Hi!!! I just added another night at WL to our trip, so that we can enjoy the first night of MVMCP. It's also my son's 6th b-day. we are plannign to do EE at MK, take a break, then go back for the party. Right now we are thinking about CP for an early lunch. Is there any advantage to doing a dinner around 5ish. Are the characters dressed for Christmas? Can we get the dinner PS now?
What rides are open? What is your strategy for the party? How long does it last?when are the fireworks? Basically, I need to know everything! Also, that is the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Will it still be too crowded to enjoy?

Here is a wealth of information
WDWIG - MVMCP

For the most part all the ride are open. Last year they were letting people in with JUST the MVMCP ticket as early as 4pm, at park close (6pm)everyone had to go into Tomorrowland and wait until the park "reopened" at 7. The party is 5 hours, until 12-mid.

I have done this event twice and enjoyed it both times. They run most shows more than once but it is hard to see everything and the parade is worth seeing twice.

Enjoy

Thanks for the link!!!! Okay, e have decided that since we will be visiting the MK three times that week, we don't care about doing any rides during the party. If we eat dinner in the park around 5:30, do we still have to exit the park adn re-enter? Should we we just get there early? It seems like in past years the party started t &, this time it's at 6? Is it because it's a sunday night?

What would be a good strategy? Our priorities are: seeing the parade and FW, seeing the snow, getting our photo and hot cocoa, seeing the shows.

we will do EE that morning. take boat back to WL after lunch and nap!!! Also read about it being VERY cold and temps dropping. We will bring our heavy jackets or layers, hats, gloves and a blanket for my DS (we will rent a stroller).

Are the counter service restaurants open? Snack stands? stores?

anything else we should do???

If you make a PS at CP between 5p and 6p you will just stay there till the party starts. No need to leave and re-enter.

Yes, counter services will be open but not all of them. Yes, lots of stores open but not all.

They changed the party to 6p-12p about 2 years ago.

The weather is very unpredicible. One year, 2000, it was freezing but in 2001 it was quite warm and humid...no need for coats.

Here's my strategy most nights:

Get a special park map ASAP when entering the park!

I eat at a restaurant to be there early and relax while they clear the place out (or you can enter early and they'll herd you over to Tomorrowland while they're clearing the park out). No they don't dress any special way for the party.

Then, as soon as they let us leave the restaurant area, I RUN over to the photo place nearest to the restaurant and get that over with before the crowds come down Main Street! There has never been a line for me yet BUT later in the night, the lines are very long but they do die down again late at night but I don't like to wait that long with little ones.

We avoid the first parade (8:30p usually) because people start lining up very early for it and it's usually more crowded than the second one.

We do some shows and rides till the fireworks at 9:15p (don't miss Rudolph flying down at the beginning of them!). We check out Cinderella's Carriage which gets displayed behind her castle. There are also usually princesses there for photo ops.

We do lots of Fantasyland rides because of our DD's. We especially like Dumbo on MVMCP nights because they put Santa hats on him just for the party!!

After the fireworks, we see what else we can fit in before the second parade, and then we head to the parade (I've heard near Liberty Bell is a good place; not crowded) usually on Main street to see the snow falling while we enjoy the parade and we head there about 1/2 hour before it starts...so if it's scheduled for 11:15p then I'd be on Main street by 10:45p at the latest.

That's about it. We can never make it past that parade because our DD's are fast alseep in the stroller!

Of course, we do end up just going with the flow (depending on the crowds and our DD's) but this is the general plan. The things that are pretty much set in stone are: Eating in a restaurant, photo first, fireworks, and second parade.

Where do they take photos? Beattyfamily said they run there first after dinner. I am a newbie to the Christmas Season at WDW. HELP!

You do not have to eat to stay in the park after close. Last year they were letting you in as early as 4pm with just your MVMCP ticket. The did have everyone head to Tomorrowland to wait for the hour until party started.

Go early, get your picutre taken, and then go see the show in Tomorrowland, last year it started at 6:30 (even though the party does not officially start until 7). Then look at the schedule of other shows and try to fit them in without having to run back and forth around the park. See the second parade since it will be less croweded then the first. People were sitting for the first parade when we arrived at about 5, and I have heard reports of some sitting as early as 3  .

There are several locations for pictures, we got ours done in from of COP first thing.

There are several locations in the park to get your picture taken. We usually go back to Small World first thing, no line there.

We entered about 4:30pm last year and it worked out great, we rode for the hour and a half before the 6:00pm close, lines were low. You don't need a PS to enter early. Then we watched the 6:00 closing fireworks, then they allowed those with MVMCP wristbands to go to Tomorrowland to ride until 7:00pm when the party officially started. Day guests were directed to the exits. The only thing was at 7:00pm we headed back to Small World, we missed the snow on Main Street, it was not working later when we left. We went on a Tuesday night last year and it wasn't crowded at all. We've gone the past 5 years and only in 2000 was it cold. We lucked out last year it was the warmest night of our trip, didn't even need a jacket.

What are the times for the parades and the fireworks? I doubt my DS will make it for the second parade. He will most likely be passed out! I was thinking of eating at CP around 5 -should be done by 6 . Head over to Frontierland for pictures and grab a spot for the parade. Maybe DH can get our cocoa and cookies while we wait? Is there a place near frontierland to pick these up? Does it snow on Main Street only at certain times? Then maybe we can see a few shows and fireworks. We don't care at all about riding on this night, unless we have "nothing to do" at the moment...

fyi...the last 2 times I ate before the party, they would not let me leave the restaurant area till exactly 7:00p

I think it snows all night on Main Street but I'm not certain.

From last year:

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade
8:18 & 10:40 PM

Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks
9:15 PM

Mickey's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas
Galaxy Palace Theater in Tomorrowland
7:15, 8:15, 9:30, 10:30 & 11:30 PM

You will not be allowed in Frontierland until after the party starts at 7. You will have to go "wait" in Tomorrowland.

Parade 8:15 & 10:40

Fireworks 9:15

Mickey's The Night Before Christmas 7:15. 8:15, 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 and not on the schedule 6:15.

Clebrate the Season (show) 7:00, 9:30, 12:00

Wild West Christmas Show (Diamond Horseshoe) 7:30, 8:45, 10:00, 12:00

Belle's Enchanted Christmas 7:30, 8:40, 9:30, 10:20, 11:10

Santa's Snowflake Special (storyteller) 7:25, 8:05, 8:55, 10:15, 11:30

Lake Howell Holiday Brass (band) 6:45, 7:45, 9:00

I am not sure if they will have the same show at the Diamond Horseshoe, now that it is a Character show. And someone menetioned earlier that they may change the Night Before Christmas to different show.

I remember reading that this party (Nov 30, Sun) starts at 6pm and that the park will close at 5pm. Am I wrong???

Last year the park's regular close was 6:00pm with Fantasy in the Sky. The official party hours were 7:00pm to Midnight.

The Disney website lists this year's party as 7:00pm to Midnight.

It seems most people who have done MVMCP have gotten in early (i.e. like 4PM) with only the MVMCP ticket. We are not planning to use a day on our PH's the day we go to MVMCP and so I was wondering...has anyone ever NOT been allowed in early with just the MVMCP ticket?

Just wondering, since I was going to make a PS for 5PM at Tony's, but won't do that if I can't be sure we'll be allowed in!

Thanks!

When DH and I went in '01, we finished up at LTT around 6:15. We were allowed to walk over to Frontier Land and we rode Splash several times before the party started. I guess it just depends on the CM.

Erin :D

I am now thinking about just doing CP for lunch. We will be tere for EE. Just got off the phone with MIL. She thinks she might want to do MVMCP and can get off work. Good!
