Hubby and I are leaning towards a trip to WDW for Nov. 25 - Dec. 2, 2007.

We've never been there during the holidays before and I'm working on gathering as much info as I can in planning this trip.

So, what can you tell me about Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? Please, spare no details!!!

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out when I have some time.

I am still hoping to get some personal views and opinions though too.

I'll start with my opinion. We went to MVMCP on Nov.30, 2004. We had been at MK the day before the party, and spent party day at Epcot and headed over to MK about 4:00. We stayed until the party was over. during the party we saw the Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas, the parade, Belle's Storytime and Wishes. For the Twas the Night Before Chritsmas show we had to get a seat over and hour before and we were still 2 rows fro the back, and DD7 had to sit on DH's lap :confused3.

We are going to Disney the same time this year Nov.29- Dec.6 and we WILL NOT be doing the MVMCP :sad2: For us it was not worth the cost or the time. We did so much more the day before at MK than we did during the party. The party was PACKED with people. The day before, we walked on to almost every ride. During the party we waited at least 15 minutes for everything, and 30-45 minutes for rides on Fantasyland. The shows were nothing to rave about. The first parade was impossible to see so we waited for the second one. Even then we had to line up an hour ahead, and then got crammed over at the last minute by the stupid people who decided to show up late. :confused3

By the end of the night I was fed up. I was expecting lower crowds and shorter lines because everyone on here said it was great. Maybe years before it was that way, but not anymore.

So my opinion is save your money and just go to the parks. Spend that money on a nice dinner when the party is going on. You will be glad you did!
Sorry to sound like such a stick in the mud, but that was my opinion. I'm sure you will get a bunch of people saying it was great too. Either way, have a great trip!

I have to agree with hezreck. I would not spend the money for MVMCP again except DD chose it for her special thing this year. (I dont even think I gave it as a choice but anyway!) The day of the party MK was empty, we rode every ride we wanted to and then some. The lines were much longer at MVMCP than we had during the day. The 2nd parade was what we got seats for and it was cute but not worth trying to get a spot and wait at 11pm for it. (I think that was the time) The cookies and coco, just that nothing special. Even at 10:15 the picture line was very long.

So basically we spent $125 for more rides with a longer line than we had during the day. But DD rode goofys barnstormer 4x in a row without getting off so it was the best night in the world to her. (Kids toontown was pretty empty) I was disappointed I had spent the money for what we got. But DD chose to go back again this year instead of the tea party, botique, or pirates cruise. So she and I will be there at the beginning, ride all the rides some more and leave right after wished when she is tired out. Dh thankfully wants to relax at the hotel that night so I dont have to dish out the $43 for him.

DD did the character hop by Ariels Groto but so many kids were running around and it was crazy so she wanted to leave after 10 min. The show had no interest to her so we didnt bother. The character lines were very long to see donald, etc. We had met Santa earlier in the day so at least we avoided that line. At 3pm DD was able to walk right up to santa on main street and give him her list. They talked for 5min since no other kids were around.

Well, what can I say -- we went last December and had a blast; so much so that we're going down for it again this year. DH, DS (8), and I have also done MNSSHP and enjoyed it, too.

Was it more crowded than I thought/hoped it would be? Yes.

Were the cookies and cocoa great? I dunno -- we were too full from dinner at LTT to have any.

Was the parade great? Well, we staked out a spot in Frontierland (just because that's where we were at parade-viewing-decision-making time) and ended up waiting really long (cause, of course, add the time it takes the parade to get all the way BACK to Frontierland to the start time -- seems simple in retrospect but at least we did have front row seats!) and still thought the Halloween parade was better, BUT we enjoyed it very much.

So why go back? There's just something, for us, about combining WDW magic with Christmas magic that made it very special. We loved the special characters out in special costumes (no, D. Duck isn't "rare," but boy was he cute as a Christmas tree sales guy), we loved the music, we did find that we could ride most of our favorites repeatedly without waits (Fantasyland was a zoo all night, but Frontierland was very accessible), we loved the roving musicians (there was a jazz band in Adventureland that was terrific), we just loved the overall Christmas spirit that did, to us, feel different at the party than it did during the day or even on a different night at MK. I guess it really depends on what you are looking for and how much you expect. We just expected to have fun...and we did!

We've never gone during the holidays before, but figure we are going to go this year to give it a shot. Who knows if we'll go back to WDW during the Xmas holiday season, as we tend to like fall the best...so far!

We went during our Honeymoon in 2004 and absolutely had a blast! We did most of the fantasyland rides, haunted mansion and buzz while everyone was watching the Twas the Night Before Christmas show and during the first parade. We saw tons of characters, had a great cocoa and cookies, saw the cute castle show, watched the second parade and saw Wishes. I thought it was totally worth it. There was just such a positive energy all around us!

I'm all about free cocoa and cookies!
