Trying to decide if it is worth the extra expense to attend the party... We will be in WDW from Dec 12 -21 I see online that the party's last night is the 18th and that one the Saturday and Sunday both the parade and fire works are now open to the public.

Is it really worth $75 a person to see this 4 days earlier with what might be less people??

I'm not too concerned with rides as we would do park days for MK earlier in the week before it get too christmas busy...

Anyone have some insight I might not have thought of??

Given that you can see the parade during regular park hours, it's only worth it if you are really into characters and want to meet some of the ones they have out at the party.

My opinion ... we did not think that the Christmas party was that special. They did give out hot chocolate and cookies (we were SO bummed about those cookies ... very processed tasting and not good at all). Since my son isn't really into the characters, one of the biggest advantages of the parties are the low wait times for rides. I think we waited less than 20 minutes for Mine Train which was fantastic. But if you are able to get the rides in at other times, may not be worth it to you. The parade was really well done but for us not worth the price of the party ticket.

However, we feel like the Halloween party was worth it for us and plan on going again this year.

There is only one way to find out if it is worth it and that is by going. Then you will know if:

1. This was a waste of time and money and I hated it. or
2. This was worth it and I am happy we took the plunge to see what it is all about.

I tell people that I can tell you what it was like to work on an aircraft carrier, but until you do it for yourself you really will never know.

If your major concern is the price, I would advise you to not go.

It wouldn't be worth it to me since you can see the parade without paying extra. Many of these nights sell out and it is packed. Also we did this party once in bad weather and what a major waste of money.

IMHO: We loved it!

But as others have stated, it's really up to you. That is a lot of extra money. We found value. Others wont.

I'm leaning towards it is a lot of money I have done the party before and really want the Christmas shirt :) But thinking the savings might out weight the few extras as we can see the fireworks and parade on the weekend any way.

We will be there the exact same dates! (Whole family going - DD and her beau, DS#1, DIL and GS, DS#2 and his girl and Grandma!) I am planning on taking my Grandson on 12/15 just the 2 of us - that date is my DS#1 and DDIL's 7th anniversary (they were married at the Beach Club!) and while they have a romantic Yachtsman dinner, My DGS and I will have a great time at MVMCP - we went last year and we had a blast - the smaller lines, the characters, the music, the parade, the snow - he loved it all!

As noted above, it is a personal decision - I love it and think it's worth the extra expense, others I know, including some in my family, don't think it's worth the money. You should try it at least once though but I strongly suggest to go mid-week if you can - weekends are very busy!!

We have found the later in the month of December you go the less likely any merchandise will be left. 2 years ago we went around the 10th of December and all the MVMCP pins were gone.

We got priced out of MVMCP quite a few years ago and just don't find the value in it anymore. We still like MNSSHP and will do that if we are there during that time frame....but we are getting close to being priced out of that one as well :sad1::sad2:

That is something I didn't think good point.. We have done the MMVCP but it was serval years ago it's more for my extended family who is going with us trying to determine if it is worth it or not....

I wasn't a fan of it myself and ended up leaving after an hour and a half. It was more crowded than I think I have ever seen MK. All I remember is a long, unpleasant walk from Tomorrowland to Liberty Square through masses of guests and short-tempered cast members to try to find a spot for the parade. No fun!

The increase this year was pretty surprising. Usually it is a couple of dollars, not $7 plus tax! Not sure if we will go after this year, as it is only going to keep going up and up. This is my favorite event in Disney and the one thing I really look forward to during our trips. It really is up to you.

I'm still debating this for our trip. We are going in November, and I'm sure there will be several nights during our 10 day trip that have the party. For me, if we do it, even if we relax all day leading up to the party, that late of a night -- my youngest will be totally useless the next day. I haven't solidified our dates, I'm thinking the only way it would work for us is if we do it the night before departure, then not much would be expected of him the next day.

If you've never done it, you can't really judge whether or not it's worth it to you. And nobody else can make that call for you.

We went this November on a weekday and it was still extremely crowded. Once we got in a line for a popular character, the other lines grew too long. Due to the price and crowd level we wouldn't do it again but I still think it's something worth doing at least once!

Unfortunately, the last night you will be very lucky to find any merchandise that fits. Most sizes are sold out and there isn't much selection.

We have done MVMCP several times over the years. One thing that really bothers me is the price goes up every year and you get less and less in return. You used to get a complimentary photo and a button that was cool. They also let so many people in that the crowds can be crazy to navigate. For us, there are better things to spend the money on, like the Pirates and Pals cruise. MNSSHP is far better to me. If you really love weak hot chocolate and not so great cookies, then you should go.

We could have written this post !!! This is the 1st time in years that we are skipping the party--- and didn't really debate much--- we have gone every year for last 15 years, and we miss the days of the free photo and button !
Even the admission passes/tickets used to get us into the holiday spirit ! And I seem to remember the party going from 7-1am -- but could be mistaken--- it just seems like 5 hrs isn't worth it---
We did exactly what you said --- instead of MVMCP tix, we booked pirate and pals for July !!
We like mnsshp better as well, and really miss the pirate and princess party ! That was great !

We loved it! but part of the fun was riding rides with low to no waits- like splash mountain over and over again without even getting off. So if you are not concerned with the rides- probably not worth it. We watched the 8:00 parade on main street. Also a blast but it was crowded and we staked out spot a waited a long time so maybe not much different than what you can do on a regular night. If you don't go to party- go to MK anyway that day. I really thought the crowd was much less on the party day we went on than the non-party day.
