MVMCP or another park for arrival day?

Taking DS4 for his 5th birthday in November, this will be our 3rd annual trip. We did MVMCP when we went for his 3rd birthday, and he surprised me by staying up and active until 11pm. That said, we already have an MK day planned and will get our fill of the rides then. So if we did MVMCP, it would be for characters and entertainment (all the things that are most crowded).

I'm considering whether we should do MVMCP for our arrival day (assuming they would have one on 11/11, which is also Veterans Day), or whether we hop on the Skyliner (staying at Pop) and check out the new show and fireworks at HS. The cost to add a day of tickets to our package is the same or more as tix to MVMCP, and I don't think we'd stay past 10/10:30pm anyways due to a busy schedule the next day.

Thoughts on how crowded the party would be on Veterans Day? That's my main concern. A 4/5 year old isn't waiting in hour long lines to meet characters!

I'm going with really crowded. It's a holiday weekend and the tail end of Jersey Week. I would take a look at last year's MVMCP party thread here on the DIS to get a sense of how crowded the parties were last year. I also wouldn't purchase tickets to a hard-ticket event on an arrival day in case of delays. I would keep it low-key, check out the new skyliner and go to DHS.

Yeah, I avoided MNSSHP last year on purpose due to reports on how crowded the parties were, so I'm not sure why I'm considering it now, lol. But HS closes so early that it seemed like a better use of money to get party tix.

Probably going to stick with Skyliner and HS unless someone has some great stories of Veterans Day at MVMCP!
