MVMCP - My Very Merry Chistmas Pre-Trip Report

Hey, I found you on everyone elses PTR's so I thought I would join in. Too bad you changed your dates or we would be there at the same time and I am at the Poly too. I got my PIN code in January right after we got back from Disney and it was good for the 4-11.. I agree that I think they have net their quota for that week!

Great plans so far!!!

Isn't that the story of our lives?!?!!?!?! :rotfl2:

I just opened your PTR. but I too need to go do some real life stuff....I hate when life interfears with Disney planning....but will definately catch up later today!

YES!! I am! I work with DH in the barn sometimes too...:) I just posted on your PTR! WOOT! You need to read my PTR...lots of evil (bwahahahaha) plans there for "persuasion". :rotfl: As I said when I posted on your PTR, I have to go pick up my friend and her kids from the metro station, so I can't read more now, but we definitely need to chat some more!

Thanks Daddy of Princesses for hooking us up! :santa:

So what you guys are saying is we all need to hit the lottery so we can be here all the time? OK, I guess I could deal with that.

gotta love the butt crack of dawn! we will be dealing with it too- 6:20am flight. kill me now! i doubt i will even sleep that night before! Mama Melrose sounds good, can't wait to hear your review on it! Sadly, this is the day we leave as you arrive! boo hoo! i always hate seeing everyone coming in as we are leaving, so depressing! having another trip planned is the cure, right!?
I agree. Heck, I find it depressing for those people who are leaving when I am arriving. Once again, gotta hit the lottery, then I could live on Disney property.

no direct bus from resort to resort. you'll have to take a bus from AKL to a park and then hop on one to the poly. or take a bus to the TTC and use the monorail from there? Even if you check in first, your room might not be ready, so i say go to a park first and maybe head to the poly for a midday break and check in then.
I figured that. We will probably go to to TTC and take the monorail to the Poly. I want to get checked in, although I will do that before I leave, then head over to Epcot. We have to be back for the 8:00 Spirit of Aloha meal.

Hi, my name is Mike, and I am a PTR-aholic. :lmao:

Yea, I could have been going with everyone else. Oh well, there are still a good number of people who will be there with me.

Oh and if you need another PTR for your addiction feel free to click on the princess picture in my siggie and check mine out

I'm such an enabler

OK, I clickd on it as you requested. Funny I never noticed that it was an ADR link, I just assumed it was a picture.

I don't think any resort buses go to the TTC. They go to MK, so you can catch the monorail there. If you are coming from a park, you can just hop the resort bus then.

loving the TR so far! Can't wait to hear more! :yay:

Getting up early for a flight is miserable, but try flying in from the west coast... you lose a whole day in the air, which i am not willing to do, so I always take the red-eye, which means the whole first day is pure adrenaline and caffiene! We land around 11 am and don't plan to stop until after illuminations that night. Last time my husband fell asleep in the hall of presidents the first day. This time we are planning more exciting stuff to keep us awake the first day: parasailing, jet skiis, la nouba, illuminations, i'm just going to have to keep him awake through dinner at yachtsman's steakhouse (no cocktails for him this night, he'll go right to sleep!) we'll see how that works out.

I know what you mean about losing a day. When we went to Hawaii in 2000 we hopped on a plane at 5 pm to come home, with a pit stop in Chicago. We go into Chicago at around 8 a.m. even though it was only an 8 hour flight. I thought I could get some sleep to take care of any Jet Lag, but the person behind me couldn't stay in his seat for more than 15 minutes without getting up for a short trip. Of course to get up, he had to grab the top of my seat and pull himself up, so there was no way I could sleep. I really wanted to slap the crap out of him. At that time I was a smoker, so after a few hours without my nicotine fix, I was starting to get a bit irritable. I managed to get to Chicago without stuffing his head down the toilet and hitting the flush. Of course we got to Chicago, I walked my wife to the new terminal and said, Be right back, and went outside for a couple of cigarettes. It was a bit chilly and I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Got some odd looks.:lmao:

My first flight (since I was 5 and actually remember) from Las Vegas to Niagara Falls, NY (my hometown), I was 17, flying out on Christmas day to stay a week with my grandparents. I left Las Vegas at 1130 am and landed in Buffalo at 130 am the next day. I was so upset that everyone was asleep when I got there and I was excited and ready to hang out, it didn't hurt I slept the whole way there after crying myself to sleep, having to say good-bye to my dad at the airport (daddy's girl) and fly all by myself for the first time and my first time flying just months after 9-11. i vowed never again! haha, reading this it seems I was a bit traumatized by the experience

ok, time for another little story about my planning. This will probably be a short one. After this I think I am out of stories about planning this trip, other than anything that may come up, and updating my day to day plans once I start studying the maps to figure out what to do in each park. I have to figure what the wife and youngest can do while the oldest and I go on a ride that the youngest is too small for. She was a bit upset that she couldn't go on all the rides at the local fair recently. So I need to make sure she is doing something fun while her sister does something else.

OK, that wasn't what I set out to write about.

I was sitting on my laptop, and listening to different Disney songs. You know like the Princess Medley from Fantasmic. I played it for my wife and asked her what she thought of the song. She listened for a few moments and said that is nice. So I kept looking around, and played another song and asked her what she thought of it. She of course liked it. After a few more songs she asked, "What are you doing?" I said I was picking out music for the photo medleys I will include in the vacation video. She rolled her eyes, and said, You are planning on what you will be doing after a vacation you aren't taking for 6 months! Doesn't everybody have music picked out for their vacation videos?
I'm not weird am I?
I should try to upload some of the video from the last trip onto Youtube. I think that is pretty easy, I've never done that before.

I haven't made a vacation video yet, but I did make one for my older DD's graduation party! It was alot of work a,d just didn't go as smoothly as I thought it would .Ours was about 45 minutes though. It turned out really nice, but I was lucky to have hair left on my head when I was done. :rotfl2:

I haven't made a vacation video but if I was I would have the music picked out!!! so either you are normal or we are both weird:confused3

Oh wow, I've never done a vacation video. I would love to see the one you put together from your last trip. My oldest loves making videos and has quite a bit up on youtube. We're going halfsies with him on a new HD video camera with the condition it gets used frequently on our trip. I think a new condition will be he must put together a vacation video for us too. :rolleyes1

And yes, you're weird.

So....vacation video....so you are talking about editing all the video you take and adding the music? My DH CANNOT find out about this!!! He keeps saying that we don't need to go back to Disney because he has the ENTIRE vacation from last time on DVD. In the last vacation video (during a river hike in Zion) you can hear me saying to him (ok, YES, I was yelling), "put down the d*** camera and come and help me with the kids." My kids were shocked because I rarely swear.... I have a scrapbook page entitled "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" by Richard which includes a photo of my husband...videotaping. If he finds out there is a whole new level to this video stuff, I'll never ever see his face again.....:lmao:

Another December PTRer joining in! We are actually the same dates as Tracy, give or take a few hours here or there. I have read all of your PTR tonight and you are certainly off to a great start! I love the internal yelling at the top of your lungs to friends. I feel that way all the time when I talk to Disney to people who just don't get it. How much more stressful and full of long lines their trips must be!

We also have a split stay going on and I have been strongly encouraged by friends who have done splits in the past to go ahead and catch a cab between the two resorts. The $20 you'll spend is worth its weight in gold!

Can't wait to read more!

So I'm the only crazy one who makes a video? Windows has a Movie making app that comes free. I also now have the PhotoShop software that creates videos as well, need to load that on the new laptop though. In 2007 I used the Windows Movie Maker. You can add your own intro text, fade into shots. Add pictures. With the pictures you can set how long it is on the screen, plus set transitions to another image. Swipes, Shatters, etc... You can also add music, mute the dialog from the video to add music etc... The beginning of the 2007 movie is a video montage with 5 second clips from various parts of the movie set to music.

OK, guess I have to figure out YouTube and give you guys a link.
