Am arriving on a Friday and there is a MVMCP that night at the Magic Kingdom. Was wondering how crowded it would be on a Friday night? Is it better to go on a week night? Is it worth the money? How late is the park open until? Is there anyone out there that did not care for it?

In my opinion, it is totally worth it! I think the Magic Kingdom is extra magical on MVMCP nights. I hate snow in NY, but I love it in FL!

I would think that Friday & Saturday MVMCP's would be pretty crowded with locals, a weekday would be better. Like I said, well worth the money in my opinion. The party is 7pm until midnite. The crowds tend to thin out after the first parade.

It's my understanding that Disney limits the amount of tickets sold for this event. Do they allow more to be sold on a weekend night vs. a week night? I don't know the answer to that. I was there on a sold out week night a few years ago and the crowds were not bad at all. Is it worth the extra $$$? IMO, most definitely! The snow, the cookies, the hot chocolate, the music...pure magic. The fireworks display all around the magic kingdom was just incredible. I'm looking forward to doing it again someday!

I'd also like to know if they sell more tickets on weekends than weeknights for MVMCP.

We went last year and plan on going again this year. My opinion, worth the mone and LOVE it. We even had our DS8 and DS3 in the parks until midnight and they were happy!!!! There's just something about watching the Christmas show in front of the castle at midnight. :goodvibes

Personally, I loved it -- the singing and dancing and shows and snow and cookies and hot chocolate and the parade. We went on a sold-out Friday last year and, yes, it was crowded but definitely managable. Mind you, we usually head to the parks in Sept. and Oct. to avoid crowds so we are sensitive about crowds.

Having said that, the rest of my family (dh, ds6, ds9 - ages at that time), do not want to go back. They thought the Christmas stuff was lame, except for the snow, and they rolled their eyes at anything singing and dancing. Boys :sad2: go figure....

Fridays tend to be more crowded. On the years that I have gone, the Friday night has sold out. I have gone on Sundays and it was not very crowded at all. The theming is nice, the parade is fun. They have an area where you can get your picture taken with the family and they mail it home. It is a really nice keepsake.

I planned a SeaWorld day for the day we did MVMCP and then we went into the party that night. This way, we didn't use a day off of our pass and then have to pay to get in that night.

You should do it at least once. It's one of Disney's best.

Sold out MVMCP'S and rumor has it around 20k is max ticekets sold to a MVMCP.We have been to at least one MVMCP each year since 1992.Most years we go twice, this year going December 6th and 8th (Tuesday&Thursday). It is worth every penny in our opinion and has become a holiday tradition for us.If you have another day during your stay you could attend a MVMCP I would. If it is your first MVMCP you might have better experience MVMCP,since Fridays tend to be most crowded. :goodvibes :wizard: :earsboy: :cool1:

We're in the same boat as you--not sure it's worth the expense and braving potential crowds. :confused3

DISers tend to be positive about MVMCP. But, I've read comments on allearsnet.com from people who went last year who felt it wasn't worth the expense:
http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/hol_mvmcp.htm

I think it really depends on when you're going and what you're hoping to get out of it. Since we'll be there the week before Christmas, there will likely be more crowds for MVMCP based on last year's comments. Also, just being at WDW will be magical for us. I don't think snow on Main Street and some hot chocolate is going to change that.

Deb Wills has a nice overview of MVMCP on her website, if you haven't read it yet:
http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/hol_mk.htm

Good luck deciding!

Add me to the list of people that think that it's great. We went back in 2001 and absolutely loved it! The only thing that didn't work out great for us was our matching Mickey snowmen sweatshirts for the free family pic (it was over 80 degrees that year, even at night!)

Go- you will love it!

I did not thiink it was worth the money, but we tried it, we will not do it again but our pics turned out nice.

It is WELL worth it!

Spoilers ( i guess )

-get a family photo
-get the hot chocolate and cookies (when else are you going to be able to drink hot choclate at mk?)
- do all rides with little or no wait ( at least when i was there)
-see the parade
- watch the snow on main street
-take in the atmosphere
-leave a bit early and beat the crowds
:maleficen

I forgot to mention that this trip will be a solo one.

I did do the party once back in either 1998 or 1999. Thought it was cute, but found it pretty crowded. In 2002 & 2003, I've actually sat on the beach at the Polynesian and watched the fireworks from there, as well as from the Contemporary's balcony off the California Grill. That was pretty cool, as you could see and hear everything.

It's well worth it -- unless you happen to be at MK the week of Christmas.

There are special pins that can only be purchased (two of one style per ticketed guest) on each night of the parties.
Each MVMCP (& MNSSHP) offer a special pin to be purchased for that night only.
Guests can buy whatever pins may still be available from previous evenings.
And only hard ticketed party guests can buy these pins. The pins are usually limited to 2,000.

After all the parties are done, whatever pins are remaining regular guests can buy. Some are always sold out.
Even for non pin collectors, they make nice momentos.

That evening's pin can be bought at the Emporium and a few other locations in MK. (The CM will mark your party ticket and your wristband at the time of purchase.)
Any previous party pins have been sold at Expo Hall.
I don't know if these locations will change this year or not.

Last year, along with the special pin, I bought a MVMCP long sleeve shirt at the Emporium. The shirt has a Christmasy picture and the year on it.

We went to MVMCP last year and liked it enough to go back this year. I love the decorations and the party has a special feel because you are getting to do and see things that are not available to others not attending the party. My favorite thing was the parade and seeing some of the characters in their Xmas attire.

We've gone the past 7 years and love it! The key is to get there early and head to the back of the park. Everything is walk-on in the back around 7:00. Get your picture taken early. The first parade is always more crowded, so try to get in all you can before that ends. After that, the rides and photo lines tend to get more crowed. The past few years they have allowed admission after 4:00pm with just your MVMCP ticket, so that will also give you some extra time without long lines.

The Friday nights always sellout. There are no Saturday parties. Sunday and Tuesday are the least crowded, especially at the beginning of the month.
