mvmcp 2006 tips only

This will be our 4th (or 5th-lost count)
Bring a pen-you can mark what you want to see on your special map-if you want to see all the shows-you need to make sure you dont overlap anything-some of the events have conflicting time-not to worry-you can catch everything if you plan out the times.
Ditto on the warm clothes-I am from Florida-and barely own more than a sweatshirt-one year it was 40 degrees there at night!!
Also-if you have little ones, consider a blanket for the stroller-they can cover with it for the parade and fireworks to keep warm.

We will be going to the party for the 2nd time on December 19. The only tip I have is to get your picture taken early because the lines get quite long later in the evening.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's tips!

I am wondering if they will still do the free photos this year. I have read that the free photo for MNSSHP has stopped. Anyone know for sure?

I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but lol when I read the first post on this thread. It's just uncanny how much it is like the first post on the MNSSHP Tips only thread I started a while back. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1187434 :rotfl:
lol.
Anyway, DH and I have been to 2 MVMCP's and loved it!
My first tip is to DRESS in LAYERS! You may need something on your arms later in the night!
Do bring some gloves just in case. lol. The cheap knit ones will do fine.

Just thought it was funny. Started reading and thought, hmm, sounds like someting I would say, almost exactly, lol.
Mmm, another tip.
Spend some time enjoying the holiday decorations. They are beautiful! You can often find lots of little "scenes" that make great photo ops!

This may be repetitive but you will only enjoy the party if you relax and if it is too crowded at first for rides just enjoy the ambiance. Be sure to be on main street for snow. The picture frames, sweatshirts etc are in the emporium with the party logo. Picture lines move faster than you think. Christmas at DW can be very hot one day and freezing the next. One party we went to had gale force wins and subfreezing wind chills. It is fabulous fun though. We eat at LTT at 5 and will be there the 21st. :Pinkbounc

Me thinks not. Here's the description of the event from Disney's website... no mention of a picture, and it doesn't mention it on my ticket info either!

Join in this festive extravaganza sure to put you in the Christmas spirit. Be enchanted by Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade and thrilled by the fireworks spectacular, Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season.

This sensational celebration also features:

Live Disney Character stage shows
Character greetings throughout the Park
Cookies and hot cocoa
Snow on Main Street, U.S.A.

Plus, you get use of the most popular Magic Kingdom® attractions!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is everything you love about Christmas plus the unforgettable fantasy of the Magic Kingdom® Park.

If chilly (it can be quite cold some years), layers. 2nd parde, if the little ones can stay awake that long. Watch it from Frontierland, less crowded.

Well Sconnell I am guilty I loved yours so I thought I need info for mvmcp so I would start this one. It is my first time going and I really want to make the most of it and know the disers have great tips. I sure hope you dont mind :rolleyes1

Kimbac3 - thanks for the itinerary

For those that have gone before do you have an itinerary to share with us so we can see all the shows that worked for you ??
thanks Diane

we are going for the first time this year but are vets. of MNSSHP. We made ressies at Crystal Palace for 4:00 so we will be able to get a head start on people. Bring something to keep warm just in case. Last year we got a little cold one night at MNSSHP. The rides get much less crowded towards the last hour and a half. Try going to Splash and Big Thunder Mnt first starting in the back of the park and moving forward. And most importantly, HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!

We will also be going for the 1st time this year a quick ? we are going to the very first night (I believe it is Nov,13) has anyone gone to the very 1st one
and if soo how crowded is it?? :wizard:

We are still up in the air on whether or not we are going. We went last year for the first time, and our girls loved it. However, they just wanted to ride rides. We only saw one show, the parade, and the fireworks. I love Christmas, and I would love to go again this year when it's just DH and myself. The biggest thing stopping me - the CROWDS.

And that is my tip. Be prepared for crowds. This isn't like extra magical hour where there aren't a lot of people. I don't remember having to wait a long time to ride the rides, but I do remember having to wait FOREVER in the line for the one show we saw.

We all just wore jeans and sweatshirts to the party, and we were fine. We live in Iowa, and we are used to the cold.

We didn't watch the parade on Main Stree, but rather across the street from the Christmas Store. We had a great view, and it our children were in the front. Be sure to have your children along the street. The characters do a WONDERFUL job of interacting. That is my greatest fear is that the parade won't be as magical this year, because it sure was last year. My DD yelled at all of the characters and was so excited and they all waved back.

We went last year...just a couple tips....
If you watch the parade right outside the barber shop, you can see it coming out from behind closed doors, right at the start. To get there, we walked thru the emporium, then to leave when its over, you can do the same if you want to head up main street. My DDs LOVED this parade, its a must do for small children.

The Pirates store sold some merchandise. Not much, but that was where we went to buy a souvenier early on and it wasn't crowded.

Then we went to the Diamond Horshoe Saloon? to get our hot chocolate and cookies.

Thanks! Guess we'll try at 4 pm and see what happens.. :) We plan on doing part of Epcot in the morning - then going back to the hotel to rest before we come back to the MK for the party..

We are doing the same thing! We'll be in Epcot in the morning, have a nice lunch at Le Cellier at 11:30, ride Soarin' a few more times, visit some of the countries closest to Canada, then head back to the resort around 2:00 or so, rest for a while, then head over to the MK around 4:00 or so. We have an ADR at LTT for 5:30pm on Dec 7th. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :woohoo:

Not quite a tip but some info.
About the photo, I called when I first received my tickets to confirm the free photo thing. Because some people had it listed on their paper (that came with the tickets) and others didn't. I was told then, after much bouncing me from one CM to another that we WILL be getting the free photo.
I also called today and was told the same thing. I sincerely hope this is the case. The prices have gone up almost $8 per ticket (adult). If they raise the price and take something away.... :furious: NOT GOOD!!!

Anyway..just wanted to share that info.

:santa:Another tip: The characters are very often dressed in Holiday attire. So even if you've seen them before you may want to see them again!!

Last year was our first time
Tips
Wear Christmassy stuff shirst hats It really puts you in the mood.

We found there are diffrent cookies at the difrent places.

Do not miss the parade and fire works

Just have fun and film

I would like some of the organized disers to post their itineraries they used to fit in the shows and fireworks, and parade. That is where my concerns lie. It will be my first too .
thanks Diane
