Just back at POR from the party...some notes:

We wera able to go into Mk at 3:45. We rode out fast passes, which were meh, because I only booked them same day for fear or losing the fastpass I have for tomorrow at DHS. So we had Dumbo, barnstormer and pirates. Around 5h30 we got off Pirates and DH went to line up for dwarves. There were maybe 30 people ahead of him at the time, perhaps 10 groups. DD and I went to philharmagic and VoTLM while he waited and we joined him at 6:00. The dwarves showed up promptly at 6h15 and we’re very efficient. Sleepy, bashful and grumpy were very in character. We had fun. But the time we left it was finally 7h00.

We crisscrossed back to the other side to line up for Aladdin/abu/génie/Jasmine where the line was surprisingly long. By the time we managed to meet both groupe it was 9h00. During one break between the sets DD and I went to ride BTMR walk on. We then met Jack Sparrow and we’re done by 9h15.

Back over to the other side to ride space (10 min wait) and we went to the castle to see fireworks. Got a nice spot in the hub on the right at 9h50. After fireworks we booked it to 7DMT with seemingly half the people from the hub and the wait jumped from 30 to 50 minutes but we waited exactly 30 minutes. Walked down mainstreet' shopped and waited for snow and parade.

Overall we had a great time though we could have managed our time better in the beginnings...we missed the sweet spot of lower wait times for rides around 8 and 9 but characters were our priority. We had most off the goodies, kudos to the pretzel and the apple cider. Merchandise was meh...

We met a family that waited for jack skellington for over two hours. Did not see how the lines for otherness characters were though we saw people lining up at Moana before 5...

Hope this helps! Bus back was right on! They had enough buses there and we did not see manny people waiting at all.

Thanks for the report. How were the crowds for the fireworks? Was there elbow room or was it shoulder to shoulder? It is encouraging that you got a good spot 10 min before the show.

Thanks for the report. Was it the norm to have one parent stand in the greet line and the family join later?

We only want to see skellington, but I think we will be lining up really early and it'd be great if only one of us could stand for awhile while the other gets food/treats with the kids.

Just not sure if it's "generally accepted behavior" at the parties / i don't want to be standing next to pissed off people when the kids join the line.

You’ll get very varied opinions on this. We did it at MNSSHP and didn’t have any negative reactions. I would never consider it for a ride, or for anything “per person,” but we pretty much take one or two pictures with the characters and move on. It would take the same amount of time if it was me alone, or our whole family. So whether they like the idea or not, it doesn’t put the people in line behind me at any disadvantage.

Thanks, I also haven't/wouldn't do it for rides. Wasn't sure about the greet Party atmosphere. I appreciate your comments. I'll be sure to keep the pictures short.

We did this in 2015 in the line for the seven dwarfs. I waited and my daughters went on rides. I had no issues and in fact most of us had our families coming and going as we waited in line. I don't know if it's "generally accepted" either but all of us in that line were fine with it.

I say the majority of people had line keepers and riders...my daughter is older but I would much rather parents withnyou her kids do the same. Poor kids squirming and jumping around (I know they need to learn patience but I doubt any of these kids would willingly wait in line two hours for any character...)

As for skellington his line was decent around 11h but I made not siren if it’s becaus it wasn’t cutoff?

In any case yesterday’s it was not an issue at all!

Thanks for the trip report. I'm interested in details regarding the bus service back to the resorts, you said it was right on. Did you stay until midnight? I see the WDW website says that they run the bus service back to resorts for 2 hours after park close. Would they go as late as 2:00am? Was there any communication about how long the buses would run, or any other details on transportation?
