Muster station bracelets? Do they make the kids wear these?

Possibly a weird question, but all 3 of my kids had to wear these on our cruise this week and I wonder if this is required on DCL?

It was a lime green (hey--DISboards!) bracelet that had their muster station on it and it was mandatory for all kids under 11 including babies. (for babies it went on the ankle.)

I hadn't had this on cruises when I was little so don't know if this is normal or just a Carnival thing. I don't see bracelets in anyone's photos but thought I would ask anyway as it caught me off guard when they put them on my kids this week.

Children are only given a bracelet if they check into any of the Clubs, and even then, it is not required that they keep them on at all times. The bracelets are given out either at the Port when registering for the clubs, or in the clubs themselves when registering. Some children don't like them and their parents take them off, and the counsellors simply print out another and put it on the next time they check in. (At least - this was as of last August.)

I kind of like the idea of having these issued no matter what, to tell the truth. In the event of an emergency, I imagine it "could" be very easy to be separated, and having an identifying label like this with a muster station and last name might be a good idea.

On HAL, my then 28 month old DD wore a bracelet on her ankle with our cabin number and muster station. It was our first cruise. I felt reassured that in the event of an emergency, if we were separated, she had her information on her ankle. I was very surprised when we boarded the Crown Princess last year and they did not have any kind of identification bracelets at all. My daughter LOVED hers and didn't want us to take it off at the end of the cruise. I think she thought she was very cool with it on :cool1:

After our first DCL cruise one of our kids wore the kids club bracelet for 3 weeks after the cruise and wouldn't let us take it off. I think it eventually fell off on its own.

I've taken DD on NCL, RCCL, Costa, and DCL. Most lines will give the kids these bracelets.

However the ships photographers will arrange the kids so that their bracelets don't show in the photos.:thumbsup2

On DCL the bracelet also includes the pager number that you are issued at the kids club.

Interesting! But that is good to know.

I hadn't seen any in anyone's photos though I do recall someone mentioning somewhere that they got them in the clubs. My 4 yo wasn't happy about wearing it, but she will pretty much do things if required.

This must have been a change in recent years b/c I don't recall any of our youngin's on prior cruises having to wear them when I was younger. Of course the cruise industry has come a long way in the form of entertainment for little kids.

Just to clarify -
If your child is not registered for OC or OL, s/he won't be given any bracelet.

I guess I never looked that closely to DD wristband last year... Other than the child's name, what other info is on it? The pager number, muster station, room number? I really like the idea of this info being on them in case of an emergency. TIA!!

Here is a pic of my son at the safety drill--he wasnt enrolled in the kids clubs this cruise...we have never gotten a bracelet...hope this helps

Good to know. I can't imagine the girls not going though.

For the Glory, all kids under 11 got them during the life boat drill. They had a camp carnival counselor at the ready with a handful of them. It was bright green and had "Muster Station D" on it. The purpose was so they could divide and conquer and take the kids to the appropriate station in an emergency. Parents would retrieve the kids life jackets when they got theirs. In the event that this wasn't possible, I was told that they had extras somewhere.:confused3

No personal information was actually on the bracelet.

For Flounders, the kids get a hand-written sticker on their back with their name and times for their reservation. No bracelet.

Oaky, I'm answering my own question, kinda!?!
I dug out the scrapbook from our 2006 cruise and the pager number and assembly station is on it!! I never realized this before. I feel sooooooo much better about DD spending time in the clubs bow. :goodvibes On our last cruise, I was constantly going back to check on her. I will probably continue to do this still but I do feel better. :)

Yes, pager number, assembly station and child's name are printed on the bracelet. Can be worn on wrist or ankle. Also be aware when you register your child online and put in a "nick name" this is what will print on the child's wrist band. So don't type in "none"...lol.

I think keeping them on 24/7 is a great idea considering if you were to become seperated a CM onboard could contact you quickly. Of course you must also carry the pager for this to work. ;o)

I had no idea the muster station # was on the kids club bracelets! Thanks for the info.
