We usually do during Christmas week. We skipped 2019, but the biggest issue for us is juggling all our usual favorites + anything new we want to try + all the holiday offerings! Safe to say I usually gain a few pounds during our Xmas trips.
As far as new or updated food since 2014:
Disney Springs
- Just walk around Disney Springs for a minute and take it all in. I'd recommend saving most DS locations for the middle of the week, as on the weekends you'll face theme park crowds + locals grabbing a bite to eat.
- I really love Polite Pig. I'm a big BBQ fan. I love the brisket, especially since brisket is very hard to perfect and they do a great job with it. I think i make the best ribs on my smoker at home, but Polite Pig is a great value, has solid food, and has dishes for people who don't quite enjoy BBQ (salmon, salads, etc.) It's a sit down/quick service hybrid, very similar to Wolfgang Puck Express
- D-Luxe Burger is really solid if you're craving a burger. I'm not one to order a burger at a nicer restaurant and most other QS burgers are too dry or lack flavor. These are solid. This was one of the OG's when it came to Disney Springs re-inventing itself around 2015.
- Homecomin' - some of the best fried chicken this Northerner has ever had. Great dishes, love the theming.
- Gonna show some love for Maria & Enzo's and Enzo's Hideaway. M&E is a very decent Italian restaurant. I'm a NY snob used to the great pizza up north, but for Italian food it gets the job done. Lower priced than Il Mulino, but not QUITE as good; better food than Tutto or Via Napoli; really cool theming. Enzo's Hideaway is great for a drink or to grab some small plates.
- Gideon's cookies are very good. I only had them when they were at Polite Pig. Many say they're overrated, but I believe that's in regard to waiting 3 hours on line. Hopefully by December the nostalgia wears off a bit.
Resorts
- Haven't been yet, but we've booked Toppolino for breakfast. Have heard nothing but positive reviews for a restaurant that opened in the middle of a pandemic.
- Stop by Trader Sam's for a drink. Really cool theming.
- Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge is so cool. It's an outdoor, open-air Quick Service that faces Bay Lake and feels as though you're miles away from Disney. Great spot after battling the crowds at Disney, beautiful during sunset.
Parks
MK - The Dole Whip Upside Down Cake is really solid and very big.
DHS - Woody's Lunchbox is really good. Haven't seen SW:GE yet
That's all I've got for now. I'll update if I think of anything.
