Must I bank before I make online ressie?

We are going to be getting online at 8:00 a.m. January 25 to make our Christmas ressie for 2013 at AKV. Booking a 1 bd Kidani standard view for 7 nights. We have 260 pts to use towards this ressie, but they are December 2012 UY. Hence, they will technically be banked points we'd like to use before we take from 2013 UY.

So. My question is this: Do I need to access our account prior to January 25 and bank those points? Or when I make the ressie, will it ask me if I want to bank those points and use them?

Am I even making sense? I think the system will ask if I want to bank and use those points first - but I'd hate to get to the ressie and then be forced to stop, backtrack to a whole other banking transaction, and waste that precious time.

Maybe time won't be an issue? I just know that the holidays are crazy and want to make sure we get in. Thoughts?

You will need to bank any points prior. The on-line reservation system only allows for borrowing points.

Thanks, erionm. I don't know why I'm being such a ninny about banking points. It just seems to FINAL! Lol! There's no turning back once you bank those puppies . . .

Though you need to bank the points before using the reservation section, you can bank on-line. On the main page after signing in you click on My Vacation Points and where the next page identifies your contract, you can click on Bank Vacation Points. Banking is an instantaneous transaction so once done you can switch to the reservation section and start the reservation process during which you will be able to use those banked points.

Also, be aware that you will easily be able to get a 1BR standard view regardless of what time of day you reserve at 11 months out. It was even available at 7 months out for Christmas week 2012.

That's reassuring! I was hoping to make my first Christmas reservation as well in a few days, worried about walking it each day and then still being able to get a studio since I don't need the larger rooms. My home resort is AKV, but I necessarily don't care if my Christmas stay is there are at another DVC. I just want a studio for Christmas to New Years. I realize things can change from year to year, but is there any way of finding out what may have sold out when for previous years? I'm just curious if I'll have much choice at 7 months for studios outside my home resort.

All the "WARNING", "DANGER", "THIS IS A FINAL TRANSACTION" messages would make anyone sweat. ::yes::

I figured this might be the case, but after years of pleading with DH to take a Christmas trip, I don't want to take any chances of anything going wrong! Lol!

Thanks!
