Must have christmas present for teenage girl?

My DD is a pre-teen but she has teen taste lol! Her list includes...

Puppy (got her in August, knew Christmas was not the time for a new one)
Pandora bracelet (the leather one for $30)
Ed Hardey sneakers
Coach sneakers
Uggs

She will get the bracelet and one of the pairs of shoes. I thought about a kindle but she really doesn't read much. I don't know what else to get her.

Thanks for the ideas. She does read (she's a voracious reader), and I have some books set aside for her, but she's literally running out of room to put books, and she has three bookshelves in her den filled up already! lol

We're going to WDW over Christmas so that will part of the gift for the whole family. I would just like to really "wow" her with something...

I'd get her a Nook:thumbsup2 I'm a voracious reader too and had stacks of books everywhere. I got the Sony in the spring and love it! Both the Nook and the Sony are library compatible, but with the Nook you/others can get her Barnes & Noble gift cards to buy books with!

For those of you with older teens, this may be an idea. I know when I was that age my aunts started buying me things for gifts thy I would use in a future apartment or dorm room. I got a small rug, a set of beautiful pottery bowls w/ handles from a craft fair, a crock with M &M s painted on it with a big bag of candy, etc. Some of it was stored at my parents house until I graduated college and some came with me to the dorms. I still use the soup bowls. For those who don't have girly girls you could get a set of tools. Everyone needs basic tools--hammer, screwdriver etc. I've given lots of tool sets for graduation gifts and they've always been well received. I know these aren't super "fun" gifts but they will get used which is better thAn spending money on other items that may not. Just a thought...

I'm having trouble with ideas for my dd too. She has kathy van zeeland luggage, tons of vera bradley purses and a new vera bradley tote for school, ipod, laptop, ugg boots......

My friend did that for me-she picked out a crystal pattern (we have the smae taste) and got me one piece for each occasion, my mom started buying me the smae pattern also

My question is to those of you who have purchased the Northface jacket. My DD is in a size 12/14 shirt at JC Penney. What size do you think I should look for? Also, spending all that money on a jacket how many years do they last? How many years do they usually fit?

As far as some must haves go I think some nice jewelry peices would be a must have. The older they get the more places they might be invited to like banquets or awards nights, dances, to a wedding with a friend, etc.. This way they will have the items for a long time and have something nice when a special event arrives.

I'd get her the XS Denali--if she's done growing and you think she'll be that size for awhile. I know they have kids' sizes, but if you're looking at something she can wear well into her teen years and beyond, I'd get her the women's size and let it be a little big for a year or so. I've had my Northface for five years now and it's in amazing condition. Fleece is still good, no rips/tears/loose threads.

My 13yo DD just asked for a Charmed Memories bracelet sold at Kay's Jewelry and charms for her birthday. She found it to be easier to open than the Pandora bracelet.

American Express has a PASS prepaid debit card thing. If you sign up for it and load it with $25 and then reload it before the end of Nov (I think) they will add another $50 to it. So for $50 you will end up with a $100 GC. There is normally a $3.95/month fee, but it is waved til Oct. 2011. :thumbsup2

I just received a postcard on this in the mail last week and was considering doing it, so now I have! Thanks for posting, OP. I ordered a card for DD 14. Just a note for those who are ordering:

As pp mentioned, you have to activate the card before you can reload it to get the free $50.00. So, DON'T put your DD's email address where it asks for the teen's email. Otherwise, she/he will start getting email messages from AE BEFORE Christmas which will give away what the gift is before Christmas.

AG also asks for your SSN#. I hope this doesn't mean it goes on one's credit report because I plan on canceling the card by next October. Normally when one cancels a credit card, it hurts their credit score. I hope this isn't the case with this card, even though it's pre-paid.

Aw shoot. I just signed up for this for my 3 kids and used their email addresses thnking "Oh yea, how else would they set up an account?" DOH! Well, Maybe the system will allow me to change the email address when I activate them and before they receive anything. Fingers crossed.

Oh, re: SSN: According to someone (over on the FW thread) they called AMEX to make sure, and was told our SSN is only used for identification and will not cause a hard pull. ;)

Saphora is hot hot hot for teen girls (and full grown women too :goodvibes) Little known fact: You can get sample vials of just about any fragrance Saphora sells if you just ask. Free stocking stuffers!

Tiffany's perfume is amazing imho. I believe they also have samples, but again, you have to ask.

DD still has converse at the top of her list as well as contacts, drivers license, Posters from the old school bands (Pink Floyd, Aerosmith etc), CDs from the same (iTunes is just OK with the kids now - they want the CDs to trade), and of course she'd love a whole new wardrobe

My children are all wanting a new itouch this year, which is easy enough.

The Miss Me jeans are very popular here for the girls too. DD has one pair & I am not buying anymore. CRAZY! I am getting one DD some Ugg Boots because I got a good deal, but my other DD thinks they are ugly.:rotfl2:

My kids really don't need anything except clothes, so it's going to look small this year. I may get them a Disney gift card for the stocking since we are going in May. Other than that, I have no idea what to do. :santa:

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Hopefully you can change the email addresses before you activate the cards. Then after Christmas you can change the addresses back to your kids' email addresses. I just used my email address in both places where it asked on the form.
