Must Eat Resturant For Each Park!

Help, I need your opinions. I want to know one resturant in each park and down town disney that should be on my must eat list.

I have five full days and I am looking for sit down style places to go, excluding character meals.

Here is what I have so far...

Sci-Fi Dine In- MGM
Coral Reef- Epcot
Whispering Canyon Cafe- WL (Where we are staying)

I have faves in a few places:

MK - LTT, CP -- if you have time go to Ohana's at Poly
EPCOT - Alfredo's or Le Cellier
MGM - Brown and Derby
AK - flame tree BBQ -- would do AKL (Boma or Jiko)

DTD -- do not really eat over there--just snacks

MK- Crystal Palace
Most of our favorite restaurants are in the resorts - Boma, 'Ohana, Spoodles, Palio

Here is what I have so far...

Sci-Fi Dine In- MGM
Coral Reef- Epcot
Whispering Canyon Cafe- WL (Where we are staying)

Everyone has to try SF once, just for the great atmosphere, the food is just OK
If you are on the Dining plan and Coral Reef is still 2TS, I would choose someplace else like Le Cellier or Chefs. CR is not worth 2TS. (BTW IMO no restaurant is worth 2TS)
WCC is a lot of fun and if you are staying at WL you must go there.

Amazingly, in all our trips we have never eaten at AK - not planned that way, just never have.....

The truth is that your must list has to be sculpted to the kind of food you eat. In Epcot you can pick your favorite type, Fench, Italian, Japanese, Fish, etc. and find the perfect Restaurant for you! In MK, you sometimes trade characters for special food, yet the characters may make the meal unforgettable. In MGM, the Brown Derby stands tall. Downtown, well again it can be by type. I don't think we will ever miss Wolfgang Pucks Cafe again. It is the opportunity to really have what the Food Network serves us and we can normally only dream of. If I could pick the one item I love the most it's the roasted garlic from Portobellos. My best 5 stars are California Grill and Jiko, but that's just me. My advice is to change the restaurants and develope your own must eats, but only after you've been to enough of the dining establishments that fit your taste. The only thing you have to fear is developing 25 must eats to go to with only 10 meals to do it in!

okay - it depends on what you want. Do you want GOOD food or schtick?

Sci Fi is a "hmm - let's stop here" type of place, but not somewhere I'd prioritize.

My picks for really good food:
MK: nowhere, really - Cinderella's Royal table for breakfast, but not the world's greatest meal ever. Just pretty good. I like the stuffed french toast with the blueberries, but the rest is just okay. For counter service I'd say Pecos Bills, they have a good salad.

Epcot: Gosh, hard to pick here - lots of good choices. I'd say Le Cellier is my favorite sit down. The brats are really good at the Germany counter service, but I think my best method is just to stop at each country and get a little taste of something. We eat our way around the world (cannolis, crepes, dumplings, etc).

MGM my pick would be 50s Prime Time for lunch, for table service. Or Backlot Express for counter service (great veggie sandwich there). For dinner, Mama Melrose's.

Animal Kingdom - not much to pick from. I guess Rainforest Cafe, which isn't saying much Maybe Tusker House or Flame Tree BBQ for lunch.

Resort/DTD "DO NOT MISS" meals for me:
California Grill
Chef Mickey's - breakfast (my "buffet" exception)
OHana breakfast
Kona Cafe Breakfast (don't miss the Kona Press Pot and Tonga Toast!)
Wolfgang Puck's
Wolfgang Puck's Express
Ghirardelli (dessert)

What great ideas! This will be our firs visit and stay WDW with myself, DH, and DS (6). I think we are gearing towards themed style resturants to enterain us while we dine. It seems a lot of you recommend Le Cellier. I will look into that.

We are trying to get away from anything character. We went to one at the Nickelodeon Hotel on our vacation last year and it was a dissaster. There were children running around, crawling under tables, screaming and crying. It seems that some parents didn't care and therefore let their children run wild.

We just don't have much tolerance for irresponsible parents that don't watch their children.

Good luck in WDW!! I'm just kidding, but there are quite a few at Disney so be prepared. But character meals are the worst for this.

Lesson #1 - The Nick Hotel is NOT Disneyworld. It was a nightmare there, I agree COMPLETELY. However, the character meals are run in a far more organized fashion at WDW. The kids usually aren't allowed to even get up from the table. The breakfast at Nick hotel was INSANITY! (And a different type of person than you'd find at a WDW breakfast). Just FYI.
Don't let that experience scare you off from the wonderful experiences to be had at the resorts and Castle.

For Downtown Disney I highly recommend Wolfgang Puck Express. We ate there and it was the best CS meal we had all week!

Epcot - Coral Reef for TS or Tangerine Cafe in Morocco for CS

Magic Kingdom - Columbia Harbor House for CS. No TS that I've tried there are worth raving about. I've yet to try Tony's though, heard that's good. Crystal Palace is okay, but if you're not into characters I don't know that it's worth it.

MGM - Brown Derby for TS or Backlot Express for CS

Animal Kingdom - Tusker House Restaurant (CS)

And best resort restaurant I've come across so far was Boma, with Ohana a close second.

I know we are visting the child Mecca of the world I love WDW. It always brings out the child in me. DH seems to tolerate it because it is such a love for me. I want to show him that this trip will not be like our one at Nick Hotel.

I know for certain that character meals are out of the picture. When I brought it up to DH I saw the fear and recollection of Nick's dining experience. He said absolutley not!

We know that we will witness some wild childs with no parent monitoring and we can deal with that. We just don't want to be grouped in a room full of them, like Nick Hotel, with no esape!!!!

It's ok if we miss character meals. They are always scattered through out the park and DS (6) has kinda of out grown the toddler type of Characters i.e. Pooh and Tigger and I know he wouldn't be caught dead sitting with princesses. Now, Power Rangers on the other hand, we may need make and adjustment

Our favorites are
MK - breakfast at Crystal Palace and lunch at The Plaza
Epcot - tough one - Garden Grill in Future World and Nine Dragons or Teppanyaki in the countries (we are trying La Cellier this time so it might change)
MGM - Prime Time 50s
AK - none - not really impressed here


WCC at WL is great - we haven't done too many resort restaurants yet - we will be trying Ohana and Kona Cafe next trip.

In additon to Coral Reef & WCC, I would add 50s Prime Time Diner and Rain Forest Cafe in AK (only if you have never been here before) if you are looking for choices that your 6 year old will enjoy. These may be aq little more active than your husband would prefer, but are good entertainment. If your son is a patient 6 year old and willing to have you choose a place for adults, I would add Le Cellier in Epcot.

This question has been asked here often, and I guess it really depends upon the person's personal tastes regarding decor, food, service, etc. But for what it's worth, here is my opinion:

Epcot - Future World - Coral Reef
Epcot - World Showcase - San Angel Inn
Disney MGM Studios - Hollywood Brown Derby
Animal Kingdom - TIE - Flame Tree Barbecue / Pizzafari (both counter service)
In the Resorts - California Grill
Downtown Disney - House of Blues

Remember to make those reservations ahead of time.
