We are planning our first trip to SW in May 2010 with DD 11 and DS 8. What are the must do/see's for us?? DD loves the rides and DS is into the animals! Are the meals with the animals worth it and if so which one would you recommend? Thanks for all your help! What are the crowds like at this time and is the park open later in May or does it close around 6:00 pm?

The one must do thing for me is the Blue Horizons show. I used to love Dine with Shamu, but they just redid this meal and the reports that I have read of people who have recently been have not been very positive. I also love feeding the dolphins and spending time at the dolphin nursery watching the mums and their calves.

If you go late May like last week in May, you will catch the Shamu Rocks show, Sealions tonight show, and fireworks show. The Shamu Rocks show is awesome! Best show in the Park In my opinion.

If you choose to go early May, you will not get to see the Shamu Rocks, Sealions tonight or Fireworks show. Because those shows are only performed at peak times of the year, Memorial day in May - Labor Day in September, Spring Break, first week of the new year, and Shamu rocks performs weekends in October.

So if I were you, I would try to go in Late May instead of early May.

I am getting excited, we are going to SW in November. DH has a twork-hing at the Marriott near there and I am using all 3 of my personal days. We discussed hitting WDW while there, but decided to just bask in a bunch of SW love!

Looking fwd to seeing everyone's must-sees!

Staples when we go...which is at least once a month...

Believe
Blue Horizons
Shamu Rocks if you go at night
Pets Ahoy is cute and great place to cool off
Clyde and Seamore if there is extra time...

Kraken
Manta

If you find the guys in the yellow outfits on the street, they are so funny. Usually over near the Pets Ahoy show...around there. No times scheduled, they just show up when they want. Hilarious. We always try to catch them.

Ya might wanna consider the quick que if anyone is wanting to ride Manta and Kraken often. Kraken's line is not long lately but Manta has been. Although...depends on when you go.

Have fun! And even if you don't feed the fins, please go see them. Best animal on this earth.

Our family favorite is feeding and petting the stingrays. We stood there for over an hour. I enjoyed petting the dolphins but when your food is done they are done with you LOL not so with the sting rays. We also really enjoyed the Pets Ahoy show.
