Must do places to eat in WDW...

Just a tip re Tusker House. It was my favourite character meal. If you can hold out for a later breakfast, around 10:30, you can enjoy the full breakfast selection, but then shortly after 11 they start putting out the lunch dishes, so you can sample those too.... good way to keep everyone happy with the staple favourites but also try some more adventurous dishes (if you can resist the mickey waffles enough to leave any room that is).

I was surprised by how much I loved the Yak and Yeti counter service in AK. Hadn't intended to eat there but I'm so glad we did, it was yummy! Generally very impressed with the counter serve meals. Another vote for Wolfgang Puck, and Columbia Harbour House was excellent (don't be put off if the queue is out the door, the line moves really fast!)

Another vote for Yak and Yeti counter service - it made a nice change and was a hit with everyone.

I presume the general rule of thumb would be use quick service for breakfast and table service for evening meal

a couple of remarks about that.

- Dinner is more expensive than lunch or breakfast (even for the same meal, the prices go up at night) so you get better value for money on your DDP (even if you get it for free, it doesn't hurt to seek a higher value for money)
So doing dinner on the DDP is more interesting. But also be aware that you'll pay the tip on the pre-tax check. So the higher the value of the meal, the higher the tip.

- Breakfast are often inexpensive.
If you do Ohana for breakfast, you can consider paying it OOP, and saving that DDP credit for another TS meal.
check websites for menus and prices.

- Counter Service is not good value for breakfast CS credit.
You get one entrée and one drink for breakfast
You get one entrée, one drink and one dessert for lunch or dinner

Dessert can be a brownie, a muffin, a boxed fruit salad, a fresh fruit, and basically all that's available as a snack credit.
you can have those desserts in a take away box.
When you're finished with your meal, chances are you won't be hungry for that muffin, and this muffin will easily do for breakfast the next morning, and you can add a snack if you don't have enough.

- If you eat CS at hotels (including your own), use your refillable mug, and take a bottle of juice, cocoa, or soft drink, those will come in handy in the parks

- think "pizza". A large pizza will often be enough for 2 adults and one child.
when you order a large pizza at your food court, it will cost 2 CS credits, and will entitle you to 2 desserts and 2 non alcoholic beverages.
(we often ordered pizzas when we didn't have evening ADR, and we finished that pizza, cold, for breakfast :) )
depending on your party and appetite, you could save a few CS credits and use them at other times.

This is the size of a pizza for 2 at Port Orleans, I shared with my Son, we both have big appetites and there was easily enough for a child to share with us.

Amended list done!

14 QS meals & 13 TS meals (one of which will be a 2 credit option)

We lost rain forest cafe & Hollywood & vine for breakfast. We are going to cosmic rays as a QS for our first day the MK and we will eat at our food court at CBR on the night we do MNSSHP to allow us two TS meals for breakfast at Tuskers & Akershus.

Rainforest cafe (DTD) , Sanna, Sci Fi Dine In, Parsdiso 37, Biergarten, Crystal Palace, Be Our Guest, Bongos Cuban Cafe, Hollywood & Vine (fantasmic package) T Rex, & Hollywood Brown Derby (2 credits) makes up the allowance!

Now time to put my our "park" thread! :thumbsup2
