We will be at MNSSHP for the first time this year, on the 7th of October for my son's birthday!!!!!!! I am soooo excited, we have the costumes planned, tickets bought, etc, etc. Since this is our first time at this party, what are the "must do's" during the party. I cant wait!!!! :cool1:

the parade is awesome and the fireworks amazing. There is trick or treating all night and so many characters out that you rarely see. Make time for those three things and you will have an awesome night.

I actually thought the parade was alot of fun, b/c the characters are dressed in Halloween customes, also we ate dinner at Cosmic Ray's and if they have Stitch's Dance Party again this year, my girls thought that was a blast, it took us over an hour to get them out of there.

We pretty much skipped the trick or treating, hit a few spots, but they gave such massive amounts of candy at those spots we only had to stop at a few.. My girls loved Goofy's barnstormer, so we walked on and on and on (5 times in a row to be exact with about a 1-2 minute wait!)

Your son looks pretty young, so you may need to do the 1st parade, but if he can hold out, do rides/attractions during the 1st and watch the 2nd!

Also watch for characters - we walked from Toontown to Fantasyland and *poof* :wizard: there were the 7 dwarfs & snow white (I was told very rare, but we were told by a CM that night who saw my DD was snowwhite & the adults were the 7 dwarfs, that they might make an appearance) they just did a general "walk-through" in Fantasyland, but it was still AWESOME, my then 3 year old (snowwhite!) was grinning from ear to ear!

Have a GREAT TIME!!
Chip

I don't know if this happens at every party, but when I went in '04, Master Gracey himself made appearances at the Haunted Mansion. I went about 3 times that night, and each time, after you were led into the stretching room, the CM would announce, "Ladies and Gentlemen, the master of the house would like to bid you welcome..." When you turned around (looking back into the entry hallway where the aging portrait hangs), he was standing there, in full death makeup and tattered and dusty suit, slowly waving goodbye...

I've never seen him any other time, so it was pretty cool.

Get some rest during the day thats my biggest thought for all you.

There is just so much going on and the be tired and cranky it's hard to enjoy it.

Take the trail from TT to Tomorrowland for the candy and characters.

I am getting sooo excited! This is our first MNSSHP too, and I love all the posts! These suggestions help a lot!

We rode the riverboat and were entertained by 4 "dead" musicians! We spent a few minutes trying to figure out how they each became "departed".

Make sure you see the Headless horseman ride down main street. It only happens once and lasts about 30 seconds. But man is it cool

Are there any special "snack" places you have to try while there during halloween time??? Is there any place you would say "dont bother wasting time at"????

BTW- That photo is old, my son is going to be 4 now!!

We always start our MNSSHP out with the HM.It sets the mood! :hmghost:

I'd try and do and see the special things that run only during the MNSSHP like the ride of the Headless Horseman , Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade,HalloWISHES fireworks spectacular , a ride on the riverboat, the dance parties.

Some tips I have:

Make sure your costumes are COMFORTABLE and EASY to get around in. You'll be getting on and off rides and do not want anything that is cumbersome.

Take time to really LOOK at all the wonderful Halloween decorations throughout the MK especially while strolling down Main Street. You never know where you might see a giant spider crawling atop of a building.Corn stalks and jack o' lanterns and over sized treat bags set the autumn mood.

My biggest tip is the day of the party have a light schedule, take a nap or have some "down time" the afternoon of the party! I can't stress this enough ,especially if you have little ones or Seniors traveling with you! Erich (Jon wasn't able to go) was 11 the last year we attended and we still did this.Even if he didn't actually sleep he watched t.v. and rested...Joe and I slept! LOL! You want to be able to stay as late as possible because the later it gets the more the crowd thins out.It seems a lot of people start exiting after the fireworks which is shortly after the first parade.

The best trick or treating is in Toontown! There was an area called Alice and the Mad Hatter's Treat Party. Our bags were LOADED after strolling down this path! We weighed our bags and between Erich,Joe and I we had 15 POUNDS of treats!!!

apirateslifeforme...that is so cool!! I've been going to MNSSHParties since 1995 and have never seen Master Gracey! wow!

I cant wait - its our first MNSSHP too! :cool1: we are going on October 2nd, we got the discount on tickets for APs. I have planned a light day, Downtown Disney, princess makeover for the girls at 12pm, dinner at ohana 5.45 then PARTY !!! :cool1: Thanks for the info everyone!

I am excited about all these "dance parties" my kids LOVE dancing and music. I dont think we will be able to leave!!!!

What (in your opinion) is the best place to eat on the night of the party??????

This is our first MNSSHP, and we can't wait! We're just so excited about it!

DD is going as Pocahontas. Don't know about DS yet... today he says he wants to be a doctor, but previously he had said a fireman, a policeman, or a cat. I'm hoping he'll settle on doctor, though, because we have a set of mini-scrubs from when my daughter was his age, and it'd be the most comfortable costume out of the various possibilities :)

thanks everyone for the great tips- keep em' coming. We are attending our first halloween party on 9/22- I can't wait!!!!!!
