And so many of them will cost as much as the cruise. I have some serious research to do.

A little tip for those looking for money savings....

• think about your pre/post-cruise hotel. Look for hotels a few blocks away from the cruise terminal for lower rates. For those arriving the evening just before the cruise with no time to sightsee.... check out the hotel rates by the airport. Same goes for restaurants.
• compare costs to flying direct to Vancouver vs Seattle with additional transfer expenses
• some cruise weeks cost more than others. Compare sailings a few weeks before and a few weeks after. May is cheaper than July, but July offers warmer temperatures. August starts to get wet.

My DH and I are excited about our upcoming Alaska cruise. Based on reviews of past cruisers we booked the Helicopter/Glacier Trek, Yukon Rail and Bus, and Bering Sea Crab Tour (that one because we love Deadliest Catch!). We are on the June 19th sailing.

Another vote for Grizzly Falls ziplining in Skagway - loved it! And, we did a private whale watching tour with Rum Runner in Juneau and still had time to do the Mt Roberts Tram and Tracy's Crab shack too.

It was amazing. The guides were great and they brake for you. It was very safe - you are always tied to lines. The zip lines were really fun and I never felt nervous. I would try it if I were you! Don't think you would regret it.

Ditto here! I am afraid of height too but I totally enjoyed it. Of course, I was not able to do flips or tricks like the guides and other youngsters (my DD includes) and that's ok!
