With my DVC points I can get us 4 nights in a standard wing room (not garden view) at the Contemporary. OR I could get us 3 nights in a tower room. This is between 12/30 and 1/2 (starting 12/29 if we do 4 nights).
It sure would be cool to have a tower room if we could know we would have the MK side (see the NYE fireworks from the comfort of your room!) but I'm sure that's not guaranteed.
Did I read something about ants in one of the wing rooms?
I need help fast! We just started thinking of this yesterday. We have stayed at the Poly, BWV, VWL and Dolphin and this was the best hotel we could get with our points, but it is cool with the monorail and all...I just know NOTHING about it!
Is a standard wing room OK? Or should we go for the tower room?

Look at it this way, if you stay in the tower, you have a 50-50 chance of having a MK view of those NYE fireworks. If you stay in one of the wings, your chances are zilch.

We were lucky enough to have a tower room on the MK side when we were there Dec. 2001. The view of the MK is fabulous regardless of the time of year but the MVMCP fireworks were over the top. They set off some of the fireworks from the lagoon area and it looked as if they were directly across from our balcony. If they do the same for NYE, you'll be in for a real treat. My DD was able to lay in her bed and just watch from there.

If I had the opportunity to stay there again and see that spectacle, I'd jump on it.

Hi. We just stayed in the Tower room a few weeks ago. It was really nice. Our friends stayed in the wings (North garden wing) and they were on the first floor - and their complaint was that it was noisy there. We went to there room for just a few minutes one day and you could hear people walking and talking in the hallways and we decided then that we wouldn't stay in the wings. The only time I heard outside noise in our Tower room was in the morning when they were doing the celebrating at Chef Mickey's (our room was on the 7th floor, 2nd to last room and it overlooked Chef Mickey's), and I only heard the noise when I got closer to the door; I wasn't able to hear it when I was in bed! Did all that make sense?!? It seemed like where our friends room was, it echoed or something, because it was loud.

Other than that, both rooms were the same.

Good luck with your decision.

I just read a post about the Contemporary tower and the Family being on the Epcot side and their suprise and delight at being able to see the Epcot fireworks and even the fantazmic ending fireworks!!!

I have stayed in both and would do either one again in a heartbeat!
I did the north tower, 1st floor (no problem with noise and we could actually see fireworks at the mk from there right outside the door) and I do admit the tower is great to be in! We had MK side and could see fireworks from our balcony.

The tower is great! The view is amazing from the MK side especially because you can watch the castle change colors at night and see the fireworks from your room. It's great being able to take the elevator downstairs to the monorail, Chef Mickey's and the concourse area. Enjoy your stay at the CR, you'll have a great time whether you are in the tower or wings. :D

If you stay in one of the wings, your chances are zilch.
Not true,

We stayed in the North Garden Wing. Our window faced MK and we saw the fireworks from our window every night. We loved our room. It was very quiet and convenient to everything.

I'd love to stay in the tower, but I would choose 4 nights in a Garden over 3 nights in the tower.
