The ceremony today was all the more moving because of the beautiful music incorporated into it.
Does anyone know which branch of the military had it's chorus sing The Battle Hymn of the Republic? It was an awesome performance.
Ronan Tynan was magnificent, especially the Ave Maria. And what an honor for those youngsters to sing at a state funeral. I'm assuming that they are part of the choir of the National Cathedral. I was watching the coverage on MSNBC for a while (flipping to CNN) and Chris Matthews said that his son had formerly been a member of the choir there for eight years.
My main question is: Does anyone know the name of the piece that was played as the recessional as the presiders left the church and as President Reagan's casket was carried up the aisle? It was a VERY powerful and moving piece of music.
A truly beautiful service.
