Per Al Lutz when asked if there is any news or updates on Murphy's return (to Fantasmic),

A. They are doing what they can to get the reluctant dragon back up for the holiday season. Hopefully they can be up and running before they may have to seriously consider shutting down World of Color down for a while. It appears that there was a lot more quake damage at the California Adventure show than they had let on. - Al

Sorry the news isn't better, but thanks for pointing that out! I usually skip those message thread weekly updates. (Not that armchair Imagineering doesn't have its place, mind you... :flower3: )

I do still wonder just how much of the WoC problems were the from earthquake, since I recall they basically never lowered the middle platform anyway, once the show started in mid-June? I'm sure the damage made things worse, but I'm not sure the platforms were in the best shape even before then. :confused3

Well, Murphy still being down is a bummer... but we love the show anyway, just wish we could see her this trip.

My heart goes out to everyone dealing with the after effects of the earthquake, including Disney, but I'm not going to lie...this news is really really disappointing.

We put off our trip in June so that we wouldn't be there for the opening of WoC, but would instead be there when they worked some kinks out and got everything more organized. Even DH (non-disney lover) is excited about the show.

This won't stop us from going to DL, of course, but it is heartbreaking none-the-less. Here's to hoping they won't have to shut it down, and if they do, it's a quick fix (*fingers crossed for repairs completed by early December*)

Do you think they will pull WOC in the next 2 months or wait until after christmas?
After Christmas if at all - but not sure what this whole thread is about. I read Al regularly and have not seen him say this about WOC - at least recently.

I tried to find it too and didn't have any luck. Im glad to hear that they probably won't do anything with WOC while we are there in November. :cool1:

Recently on MiceAge, they added this little "Ask a Columnist" piece to the MiceChat roundup that's posted on Wednesdays. Usually it's Al that answers whatever question is asked. This week's question was about Fantasmic and WoC. Here's the link: http://miceage.micechat.com/mc/mc092210a.htm
Scroll down a little ways to find the bit.

It's tucked into the Q & A at the bottom of this week's round up. It hasn't even made it's way into an editor's note, so it's definitely not time to panic yet!

Before everyone worries too much....

1. This is Al Lutz, NOT Disney stating this. It is not official news.

2. Look at the words Al used. I've bolded what I am referring to in the quote below.

Yep, I treat everything he says as rumor, often interesting, sometimes eventually correct, but still only rumor until it actually happens. I like to read his stuff more as a way of possibly getting a heads-up rather than going into a panic.

I highly doubt that WOC would be pulled before the holiday crowds especially since there was a thread here with some Tron/Electronica testing for the show and Tron doesn't come out until December so nothing to worry about. I do think the show will eventually go on a less rigorous schedule since there does seem to be obvious problems like the lowering of the platform and the color of Paradise Bay.

Just thought I would share in case people were hoping to see Murphy soon.

I never read the MiceChat roundups before but about a month ago there was a teaser that Al would be answer a question so now I try to read it just to see what he says.

well dang it!!! Murphy went down a few days after we bought our dessert seats. I was really hoping he would be back up by this weekend!!! :sad1:

This is aboslutley unofficial.

I asked CM's during the weekend about WOC and F!. I would described their opinions of when Murphy would be back as "hopeless". They didn't expect to see her anytime in the future.

About WoC one CM said it may be this time next year before it is fixed. Her reasoning is that it is new and they want everyone to see it before taking it down. Keep in mind some people visit DLR only for Spring break or Halloween. They don't want anyone to miss this new show so they want to get through a whole year's cycle.
