I'm wondering if the murphy beds in the Fort Wilderness cabins are the same as in Saratoga Springs. Sleeping on the Saratoga murphy bed at age 40 was rough on my back and I just can't see having myself or my father sleeping on a bed like that.

The conclusion I'm coming to is that the value resorts have really thick and very comfortable murphy beds and the deluxe resorts have thinner murphy beds. It seems weird, but is that the case? I've only stayed in Saratoga and Pop.

I've slept on the Murphy bed in a Beach Club Villa studio, and it was very comfortable. The bed was relatively newly refurbished with new bedding.

I’ll start by saying I have not stayed at the cabins at Fort Wilderness so hopefully someone else who has will respond but, looking at pictures, given that the Murphy bed is a similar bed to those in other Disney resorts, they normally have very good mattresses on them an often identical to the standard main bed in the room.

Slept for a week on the Murphy bed in a cabin last November and was very comfy. 1000% time better than the old cabin couch pullout, which was pretty horrible!

Was the SSR Murphy bed the drop down kind when you were there? (I have an upcoming stay, thought they were the drop downs like RIV has which are like a real mattress.)

The only murphy bed we've slept is the new Poly Towers Duo Villa. The mattress was thick/standard/normal but it obviously was NEW. It started out comfortable but, as a side sleeper, it got 'harder' thru the night.

We stayed in an SSR 1 bedroom last month, it was the drop down murphy bed.

I’m staying in a cabin in November. Disney has been using Inovabed Murphy beds in all their new builds and refurbishments for some time now. I actually prefer the Murphy bed to the standard bed. A lot will depend on the mattress, not the bed itself. The bed is like any platform bed, in that it is just a firm flat surface for the mattress to rest on. Most of the hotels have gone to platform beds whether Murphy or standard. I think platform beds with no box springs are more firm. so if you don’t like a firm bed that can be an issue. It can also be an issue if the mattress is too thin or is a type that should be used with a box spring. So far, my experience has been that they are using the same mattress for the Murphy as the standard. The bed in the FW cabins looks similar to the queen Murphy bed in the Riviera studios, which I have slept in, so I am looking forward to the cabin. Since I will be in the Murphy, I am immensely relieved they got rid of the sofa bed.
