Would the murphy bed be suitable for a 16 year old girl, average height and build?

I would think it would be a bit on the small side for a 5'6" person but do-able. It probably wont be very comfortable ... it was comfortable enough for our suitcases though ...lol

Check the beginning of the POR thread or Portorleans.org for bed dimensions and weight limit.

•Additionally, Alligator Bayou rooms (only) include an extra fold-down Murphy bed located over the banquette bench seat (including King Bed rooms). These beds are about 63" in length and are suitable for children aged up to about ten years, but would probably be too small for most adults over 5 ft in height. Note: the only way to guarantee this feature is by having a party of five people at Riverside, or by booking a Preferred Location room

I think it is smaller than a normal twin bed, more comfortable for a child under 10 than an average sized adult.

We were there in early Sept. and it was a good size for my 11 yr old (almost 12).
She's probably almost 5'. She had several inches of mattress left below her feet. I laid on it and my feet hung over the edge (I'm 5'6''). It is def. wide enough for an average person. But, not as wide as a twin mattress.

I wouldn't be so concerned about the width as I would the length and the weight restriction since the bed is essentially suspended over the floor. The unwritten age rule of thumb for the murphy bed is age 10 and under, so personally, I would say it would not be comfortable for a 16 year old even of average size.

as far as an actual weight limit, im not sure.....but if you get the preferred room or have 5 and therefore get that type room....the murphy bed is atop of the box like structure (see the pix posted) and i do not think an average teen would have a weight issue with it...though if they "suggest" up to ten year olds, its likely that weight range is likely (i that like 100 pounds???)

just want to add that using it as a bed really takes away what little storage is in the new room configuration.....I was disappointed in the new room.

I'm an adult and I would sleep on it. If you're not sure you could just take an air mattress with you just in case.

thanks everyone for the information and opinions. very helpful.:)

Well I have a very skinny 20 yr old that will be sleeping on it..LOL He is probably 5 foot 5 at the most..
