Murfreesboro, TN

I live here!

Its my favorite town in the whole wide world. There is so much to do, and so many places to shop and eat (and even work.) It has two big malls, an indoor and an outdoor. Its a college town, and its constantly growing and getting new places and new people. I have a 2 bedroom apartment for 450.00/month + utilities (which aren't too bad, but comcast will suck the life out of you. it takes them forever to get anything going.)
I love this town, and I'm sure anyone who visits will love it too.

The only qualm i have is the traffic down the main roads (i. e. the roads to the malls) But there are back road short cuts that many of the locals take, rather than get stuck in "visitor" traffic.

I hope you like it!

Just wanted to update those of you who may (or may not) be interested!

We have a home we love on the Stones River. :goodvibes The kids go to Scales, which they are quickly loving. Stacieki, sounds like we are close to you! My middle schooler is having a harder time getting adjusted. She is at Rockvale. Our HS will be Riverdale in a couple of years--not sure how I feel about that, so we may be looking at private then. We are close to both shopping centers, the highway entrance, anything we want. So far, we are loving Murfreesboro!!:rotfl:

I am real close to you:). If you cross over Cason Lane when on New Salem Road, our subdivision if the next one on the left, Salem Creek! We are zoned either Cason Lane or Rockvale for elementary and then Rockvale for Middle and High. I only have a 3.5DD so I have a little time to figure out the schools. Right now she goes to St. Rose Preschool full time (we both work). I didn't know they had houses on the river - very cool! I love our house, but am trying to get used to the neighborhood. The neighborhood is just small for what I am used to, but the neighbors are nice.

I love the location, too.

That's great to hear! Welcome home :goodvibes

Just want to share.. I know it's hard to find a good salon/hairdresser when you move.. might I suggest Deana at SplitEnz. It is located in the little shopping plaza beside Walmart. I've been going to her for 3 years now and she is such a sweetheart, love her!!

My wife and I live in Franklin but both graduated from MTSU a hundred years ago. We absolutely love Mboro. It has grown so much in the last several years. Shopping and restaurants are aplenty.

It's no Franklin, but it's still great.

I have no clue about the schools (except for MTSU).

Thanks guys! Thanks for the hairdresser suggestion--do you mind me asking how much she charges? I like to go middle of the road--about $25 for a haircut. Thanks. Anyone else like to suggest service providers?? We need drs., etc!! I dooo love being near all the shopping--that's a real treat for this shopper that was far from shopping for far too long!

I do believe she charges $25 for a haircut. I have to go see her every month to have my roots done, she's pretty reasonable for color too. Stinks to be 33 and already have to cover up your grey hair, sheesh! :sad2:
She has the best southern accent you will ever hear ;) There is another girl that works there named "Deanna" but my hairdresser is "Deana".

ETA: Snodgrass King is a wonderful pediatric dentist office and it's right near the Avenue, our doctors are all in Franklin and Nashville, I work at Vanderbilt after all....

We live about 15 minutes NE of Murfreesboro. My DH grew up here. I think Murfreesboro is a great place to live. As far as schools, check out the houses in the Siegel school district. Erma Siegel is the elementary school and then there is Siegel middle and Siegel high school all with in a couple miles of each other. They are all fairly new schools and I have heard good things about them.

Check out pediatricians at the Murfreesboro Medical Clinic. All our doctors are part of this clinic.

The Avenue is a newer area for shopping. Middle Tennessee University is also located here and has the largest under graduate population in the state.

Good luck with your house hunting, and ask if you have any other questions.

Welcome! I love it here. I don't know if your into country music or not but Chris Young is doing a free show at Walmart by campus Monday night.

Stasieki your not far from where my apartment is.

The only doctor I know really well is the orthopedic and for that I recommend TOA, super friendly and super nice.

Love the Avenue for shopping.

I agree with TOA (Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance) for orthopedics. It seems like they have a monopoly because everyone I know uses them. But they are good.

The concert sounds like fun--what time? How do you find out about things like that going on in town?

It's 6 pm, sometimes they will have it up on local radio stations like WSIX, sometimes I've seen flyers throughout the town. When Chris did the benefit concert for the town, it was all over the radio and town about it.

Our pediatrician is Tennessee Pediatrics (Dr. Bingham) - we really like him a lot - don't think he is taking new patients, but all the docs there are great. I like my OB - Dr. Moore in Dr. Mary Moss's office. Dr. Moss is very popular but I think she wasn't taking new patients a year ago. The practice name is Women's Health Specialist. I am on the fence about our Family Physician - can't decide if I like or not.
