It honestly depends on their level of fear, or what their fears happen to be. If they don't like darkness, fire, speed, mummies or bugs they probably won't like it. If they are okay with those things they shouldn't have a problem.

My 9 yo nephew rode Mummy last week and he tends to scare easily. After the first ride he said he was never riding it again. Later that day we saw the Horror Makeup Show and it gave him a clearer understanding of how everything is special effects. After that he probably rode 5 or 6 more times and loved it every time.
