So just how scary is the Mummy anyhow? I would love to ride it - it sounds really neat inside but I am worried that it just might be too intense for me. I love BTTMR and Splash Mountain but don't like Space Mtn although I have done it a couple of times. Any suggestions out there?? :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I found it really scary the first time, but really, really fun. But I also think Space Mountain is a breeze.

So if you really want to ride it, I'd say try to google a detailed ride breakdown so you know exactly what to expect before it happens.

I was a ride sissy for a long time, but I chose to ride it anyway because of how cool it sounded. Just do it once, it won't kill you, and you might enjoy it. :thumbsup2

The coaster itself isn't any more intense than Big Thunder Mountain or EE. There are parts that are similar to Space Mountain but those parts are short and separated by a room scene.

DH is a coaster whimp, but he loves the mummy.

Same thing for me! First time through, I was never going on again. Now I love it!

Sounds like I can do it if the coaster part is not more intense than BTTMR. And you are right, I can certainly live through the 3 minutes or so. The special effects sound so cool. :cheer2: :cheer2:

As damo mentioned, it's definitely no more intense than BTMRR and to me it's a lot smoother. It's in the dark though so that makes it a little more like Space Mtn. There are no inversions, if that is a concern of yours. It's a great attraction and truly shouldn't be missed.

IMO it's way more intense than BTTMR, and I can't say that I'd recommend it to a roller coaster sissy. I love roller coasters and I've ridden all of them in Orlando and this one is by far my favorite. I agree with previous posters that if you can get through the first time, it will no longer scare you. If you're really not into roller coasters, though, the first time might be too much for you.

We were there Wednesday and went on Mummy for the first time. I also thought it was more intense than BTMRR. There were a few sudden stops that really jerked me around. I really liked it though, just wish it was a longer ride with more of the story. I guess that's probably hard to do though when some parts go really fast. There's one part where you come to a sudden stop and it doesn't look like there's anywhere to go. We sat in the very front row and could see the drop. That was probably the scariest part.

As I recall it. I rode the hulk, first time screamed, and laughed a bit. But, the first time, I rode the mummy. I cursed, 3 times. I think my next trip to disney, i may have to add universal, it rocks!! Also, want to try to ride the Mummy again, without cursing.

I will admit, I did curse on Space Mtn. I am sure I will curse on Mummy also. That is just a given on my first ride. Unless of course I am scared speechless!!
LOL I am just hoping the noise of the ride will drown out any bad things that come out of my mouth. :rotfl2:

Nobody seemed to mind my industrial language, and I am quite loud.

There is a big difference sitting in the front on the Mummy and in the middle. When we sat on the front I was really scared and screamed!! This year we got the middle and I kept waiting for the main effect. When we got back in line to sit in the front they closed it for something. I never got back on.

Well, can't speak first hand, as I'm a thrill ride junkie and my only complaint with Mummy is that it's way too short. But, my best friend not only is a ride sissy, she has an inner ear disorder that causes serious vertigo. So she has to be extra careful what she rides. She loves Mummy!! Screamed her way through it the first time, convinced she was going to be sick...and then came off laughing and doing fine. So going off her reactions, I'd say Mummy is easier than Space Mountain (which makes her violently ill). Go for it, have fun, at the worst you can buy a funny picture of you screaming your head off!!

My df is the biggest sissy & I managed to get him on the Mummy, doubt he will ever ride again but he said it was as bad as he imagined!

One time I went to USF by myself on a slow day and I walked onto Mummy. I got my own car and I was sitting front row center. I had been on it like at least 20 times before but seriously that was the MOST terrifying it had ever been!

I swear I heard stuff I had never heard before and it was just even more immersive.

i started a new link trying to find a virtual tour of mummy but no one has answered me with a link yet. i tried to google as was suggested in this thread, but couldn't find anything. i clicked on 2 pages of links....still no luck and still don't know if i should ride it.
