Multple ADRs: Good Strategy or Just Plain Rude?

From what I understand (and no, I haven't been there in a bazillion years, so I don't know personally) Disney has been cracking down on multiple ADRs and cancelling them. So you may want to take that into consideration.

That said, you may want to explain the reasoning behind the multiple ADRS when you book. You'll run the risk of being told you can't do it, or you may find that you have a notation on your reservations explaining that there's a medical reason behind it.

If you do decide to limit yourself to one, consider making your reservations early in the evening. That way, if you do get a craving for something spicy, you could probably get it from one of the counter service places later in the evening.

Best wishes!

I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to make multiple ADRs. I know people who have tried and haven't been allowed to.

I think that's right. Everyone who wants to make multiple ADR's think their reason is valid, so where do you draw the line?

Multiple ADR'S on same day which you can't use = rude, Rude, RUDE !

and, more than a little selfish.

I'm not sure that you would be able to do this. I had booked all of our ADR's but had been trying to get 1900 PF for our first night. Somehow it opened but the time frame was earlier that I had anticipated and I wanted to check with my DD. I did not want to lose this one though so I tried to book it. I was not able to book this one until I canceled the other. I had not told the CM that I had another booked and I used a different telephone number.

I am really not sure what the system saw that made the CM aware that I had an ADR scheduled about 90 minutes after the one I was trying to book.

I really can't believe they would make you cancel first (not doubting you now). But when ever I called to change a ADR to another place the CM said we are not canceling the you one you made already before we check to see what you really want is there. This way in case it is not there you still have your original ADR. Hope this makes sense but if you cancel first & nothing where you want is there you are back at square one with nothing booked :confused3

Well said!!! I sympathize with the original poster's situation, however policies are in place for a reason. Making exceptions for one just opens the door to everyone wanting them. (examples - I need more in case our baby falls asleep and we don't want to wake them; my kids may get tired or sick and I want to be covered in case we need to leave the park; we're using an ECV and may not be able to make it back to the other end of the park in time; we don't want to be tied down to one place - we've got hoppers and want to be covered in case we leave the park, and on and on and on). I'm not making light of anyone's health issues - I'm just saying everyone has a reason for wanting to make mulitiple ADRs. Disney's got to try to accommodate thousands of guests and it's selfish to bend the rules. If for whatever reason, a party misses an ADR, there are plenty of CS (particularly back at the resorts) that offer more than just burgers and fries. Please be considerate of other guests. A walk-up at a TS is just as easily available to you as it would be to the person who got a table because you canceled a multiple ADR. JMO.

Please don't take this the wrong way, But is this op for real ?

Gosh, morphine based meds and ADULT cocktails at the pool?
That sure could cause some problems...:rolleyes1

What really had me wondering in the beginning was the need to send someone out for lemonade to take meds?
Didn't they have water there?

Please tell me you were just kidding...

If you weren't, I'm sorry if I have offended you

The CM did check to see if 1900 PF was available and confirmed the time. She would not book it though until I canceled Chef Mickey's. I understood because I had heard that the CM's were trying to cut down on multiple ADR's. I just had wanted an hour or two while I checked with my DD to see if she thought we had enough time to make it to the earlier one.

I know that Disney was cancelling multiple bookers during free dining last year. Not sure if they do this year round or not.

What about booking your ADR's for different meals. For example, book a breakfast or lunch, and then a lunch or dinner. You can book 2 meals a day if they are not the same meal. If you can make it to both, great, if not cancel the one you know you won't be getting to.

I have had to cancel one ADR before making another one on several occasions. I always intend to cancel one as soon as I get the other, now they generally just do it for me or at the very least ask me why I have this other ADR for the same time frame.

As for the OP's situation, I feel for her. I know when we went to WDW with my mom a few years back, we had a heck of a time. She was sick with cancer and a few times we had to regroup. For example she thought she wanted Marrakesh until about two hours before we were set to eat there and so we had to cancel. It was hard to plan and we had to go with cs on several occasions due to changing our ADR's. As much as it stunk, I wouldn't have felt comfortable making mulitple ADR's trying to in essence pick a wide enough variety to allow for "something" to work for her palette. Frankly, it would be tough for me to keep track of all of that and again, WDW does indeed now crack down on this. Not to say they do ALWAYS since as we all know, WDW can't enforce its own policies half the time (mug sharing, pool hopping, double ADR's, 12 year olds, who are suddenly back to being "9", etc., etc.). But if they catch you in the act, yeah, they will cancel one of your adr's. There are always exceptions to every rule but in the end if you speed on your way to the ER with a sick kid, you can still run somebody over in the process. Do I understand the dilemma? Yes. Is it right? Who knows? Its one of those things that isn't on par with stealing an old lady's hand bag but it can still negatively affect others.

In any case, I hope the OP has a great time on her vacation, feels great and enjoys the ADR;s she makes, regardless of how many. Its not an easy vacation to plan when you have medical/food issues esp. now that for some places you have to call 180 days out.
