Multiple Rooms???

I am starting the process of planning a future cruise for the summer of 2022 and need some help and suggestions. This cruise will be a celebratory one with 4 adults and a 14 year old. Two of the adults will be my daughters who will have just graduated from high school and the other from college. I'm looking at room suggestions. My wife and love the Verandah rooms and like the idea of having the other three in a different room ! Is it possible to be able to secure an inside stateroom right across from our room? Is it difficult to get side by side Verandah's with an adjoining door/Verandah? If anyone has done either one of these options I would really appreciate your insight and price comparisons. We're leaning towards a 7 night cruise probably in June 2022 out of Port Canaveral. Thanks in advance

If your daughters and under 21 you will need to book one parent (or anyone over 21) in each cabin. Once onboard families can sleep in what ever cabin they want.
It is possible to be connecting veranda cabins.
On the Fantasy and Dream the cabin may not be right across the hall but close by. On the Magic and Wonder the inside cabins are directly across the hall from the veranda cabins.

We have done 2 cruises with connecting verandahs. And, yes as PP stated, one 21-year-old or older adult must be listed in each stateroom. I found it easier to determine, in advance, which deck and forward/mid/aft location you would like then call DCL and they can easily see what is available to accommodate your family. Our family cruise, which would have sailed this Friday, had three verandah staterooms in a row and the DCL CM did a great job of getting us the location we wanted. And verify with the DCL CM that the verandah wall opens to both rooms so you can have one big verandah.

If you book opening day... or even within a few months of opening day (depending on your cruise), you should have very little trouble finding the rooms you want. We always book 2 connecting verandah rooms. It's great because your verandahs also open up to each other. But do your research. Know which deck you want and also if you want murphy beds or not. Not all have them and it might mean sacrificing one area of the ship for another.

Also, if you and your DW might have to book one in each room, but DCL doesn't care where you sleep.

Your budget is very important and you should stick to it. That being said, do you want the whole gang on your verandah throughout the cruise (there are only 2 chairs)?

We always book 2 adjoining verandah cabins on deck 5, category 4E for my family of 4. We always sail in May on the fantasy - 7 night cruises. It is usually around $9000 for the 2 cabins.

Your college grad is probably over 21, unless an accelerated student, that covers adult in the room?

We had no problem securing an across-the-hall inside-verandah combo on the Magic in the past. On the Dream or Magic, the doors to the inside cabins face little hallways instead of the long corridors. Just pick your combo so the verandah room is near the hallway opening.

Kids in one, parents in verandah. Great plan. Unless you know your kids are really going to spend the time on the verandah, why pay extra for it?

I’ve been told each room must have a separate photo package, unless that changed? They went to a new format and no longer have hard copies maybe they changed recently that. Back when I started sailing in 2010 that was how it was handled.

Each room must purchase their own photo package. Only exception is if there are 2 rooms, with Mom and (minor) children in one room, and Dad and (minor) children in second room. Then only one package is required. You go to Shutters to link the two rooms once onboard.

Now, if there are 2 rooms, Mom (and/or Dad) and kids in one and Grandma and one or two other kids (same family from room #1) in the second, only the kids in the second room can be linked with room #1's purchase. Photos of Grandma alone will not be included. Although that has happened, occasionally.

Each room has to have its own photo package (subject to the exception PrincessShmoo described), however, there is the possibility of a discount for the second stateroom:

Photos of Dad would be included, as he's part of the nuclear family. Photos of other non-nuclear family (Grandma, Aunt Sue, cousin Fred, etc) would not be included.

Weve done the across the hall thing, after PIF . Initially we had to take an interior room that was a bit further down but eventually the one right across the hall opened up and we jumped on that switch.

One thing I didnt see discussed is who will be funding on board expenses. *That* might be a reason to book mom and dad separately so you can have easy daily access to each rooms charges.

During online check-in or at the port, or even on board, you can set up who is responsible for managing payments.

For example.
All charges for both rooms could be paid directly under Parent 1's account.
-or-
Each parent could be responsible for charges in whatever cabin they are booked under.

The college kid could be responsible for all of their own charges and the rest of the charges could be done by the parents.

There is not a way that I am aware of to define things even further. For example, Disney cannot set it up so Parent 1 could not be responsible for the shore excursion of college kid but have college kid pay for all purchases made in the shops or extra. Luckily, you can get an itemized listing before you disembark from the ship and settle up afterwards.

In the bolded scenario would Parent 1 be able to see the charges of the room he wasnt in. That was my concern, being able to monitor spending if the kids need that sort of hand holding. I know if I am in a room, I can see all charges even if I am not paying them.

You used the word “adjoining” please be sure to always use the term “connecting” if you want an interior door to open both rooms together. In DCL terms, adjoining means next to each other or across from each other, connecting is the term to make sure you have the interior door.
Also, if you book with a travel agent or on the phone, have connecting cabins, and kids are not over 21 you don’t have to split you and spouse in the reservation. We’ve never had to book it that way for all of our cruises and we’ve done 9 with connecting cabins.
