We will be traveling with 3 families in October. I have reserved 3 rooms WL Concierge under my name with the AP rate as I am the AP holder. When my confirmation arrived it showed as a total amount for the 3 rooms as a package total. I have paid my room, my portion of the grand total, in full. The reservation is not viewed as 3 seperate rooms, but a package of 3 rooms. My question is, are the two other families traveling with us able to have the remaining amount charged = to their respective credit cards? I was told when I made the confirmation that 2 cards could be used to pay the balance, but as time gets near I wanted to get responses from others who have done this and make sure that what I have been told is what will happen. I do not want any surprises at check in. Thanks for any input.

I did this last year. Not sure if this still holds true, but as an AP-holder with an AP rate, my particular room could be paid at check-in, while the other two rooms and UPHs had to be paid in full several weeks prior to the trip. However, since the entire reservation is basically in your name, you are responsible for making sure the payment gets in on time. I separated the appropriate charges and gave the family members their respective totals, told them who to make the checks payable to, and then they gave them to me and I sent both checks in the same envelope with the balance paid form. At check-in, I had to check-in first, then they checked-in the occupants of the other two rooms separately right afterwards, so they could make any requests, have their cc's linked up to the room key, etc.

I reserved two connecting rooms in August at POR and they REFUSED to let us use two credit cards to pay. It all had to go on mine (as the AP holder). It wasnt bad for us because my friend was able to give me the cash or she would buy meals on her card for us.

It was viewed as one reservation and all of the keys had my name on them.

I have heard that sometimes a CM will let some people break it up but they were pretty adamant at POR that we could not do it that way.

Interesting thread as we are also AP holders and we are going to be traveling with my SIL and a friend of hers for the first time this coming Jan 2004. I knew that I could book more then one room if available with the AP discount but I just assumed that our room would have our CC attached and that they could attach her CC to her room without any issues. Oh well, when the rates come out, if they do that is, I will have to make sure that I specifically inquire about this. We are looking to book two AKL Concierge Rooms if possiabe.

Thanks for your replies. I will be calling to verify today, to see just what I am told, which I am guessing will coincide with what experiences you guys have shared. As I said earlier, I just do not want any surprises at check in. I am a meticulous planner and I know it sounds crazy but surprises like this would not be high on my list of priorities.

There is a difference between being allowed to pay for the rooms seperately and having them seperated after you arrive for room charging purposes.

I don't know too much about what is and isn't allowed for AP reservations, my Uncle just changed his rez to an AP rate and added his brother's rez to it, and he had to pay for both under his card.

But, I do know you can seperate a reservation once you arrive so that each room has a different credit card on it for charging purposes. They do not like to do this, the way their system works, it is, apparently, not an easy feat, but it can be done.

You cannot, however, have more than one credit card on a room (or at least you couldn't the last time I asked).

Here is what I found out when I called to inquire about the other two families traveling with us paying the remaining balance due. I spoke w/ Olivia and she said since the reservation is in my name under the AP rate for all three rooms and I have put each family's name on each room that they will be able to pay the remaining balance equally with as many cards as they would like. She told me that if their names were not on each room and I just reserved all 3 rooms with no other names then I would have to pay the remaining balance. The difference is that each family has their name on their respective rooms. WE will all be checking in together therefore this allows the AP rate to be applied to all rooms.
