Multiple Magic Bands- Same Trip

I was just told last evening be Member Services that the bands cannot be used for multiple trips. We have Magic Bands for our trip next week. I was making a reservation for later this year & was told that we will need new bands for that trip. I specifically asked, because I had read on this blog that bands could be reused for future trips.

You got some bad information. The Magic Bands are most definitely good for future trips. On our early November trip I used all four of my bands on each half of our split stay with absolutely no issues.

You will get new bands, but you will not need new bands.

Again, that is incorrect. Bands can be used over and over. They read whatever is in your account at the time they are scanned.

Unfortunately Disney phine CMs are notorious for giving inaccurate information.

From the MagicBand & Cards FAQ:

Q. Can I reuse my MagicBand or card the next time I visit Walt Disney World Resort?
A. Yes. If you have a MagicBand or card that you like, and it is in working condition, you can continue to use it when you return to Walt Disney World Resort.

MagicBands are currently being tested by a limited number of pre-selected Guests. Due to the nature of the test, we are unable to accommodate requests to participate.

If you have multiple MagicBands or cards, you can manage which ones are active in the MagicBand section of My Profile.

I had four sets of magic bands per each person assigned for my last trip. They will all work and you can use your favorite one for the entire trip or change to different one whenever you like.
Depends on the CM at the check in time, the process can be very smooth or very long.
I have accumulated enough MB and KTTW cards in my party of six's profiles and some CM were having trouble scrolling through the devices to make sure they have a green light.

The key is to make sure the CM check you out of your previous stay before they proceed with the check in.

Just to clarify...the check-in CM doesn't have to do anything to make all of your MBs work. I didn't scan any of mine at check in and each of us had no problem using all four of ours.

One trick I read was to use each of your MBs on your door lock the first time you enter. I don't know if this is necessary, but we did this and had no trouble using all of our bands for both halves of our split stay.

As you said though...you have to be fully checked out of one resort before checking into the other.

What I did was spell my name a little differently on each band. Wish I'd selected different colors but I didn't.

I picked different colors for each segment and then added a "1" or "2" after the name to designate which part of the trip each band was to be used....reading this thread I now think I am way too Type A

Yes, the 1, 2, etc. are unnecessary. You will be able to use all your bands for your entire trip. The different colors will let you coordinate to your clothes though...if you want to. I have four bands and loved being able to choose whichever one I wanted to wear on any given day.

I did that too because I want to try to keep track of how many I end up with years down the road. I also have multiple colors. Nothing wrong with Type A in my book!
