Multiple itunes accounts

OK, I'm sure this has probably been covered somewhere on the DIS, but I searched and couldn't find an answer, so here goes:

I'd like to get our family's itunes accounts figured out before we get more ipods for Christmas and they become even more messed up.

Currently, I have an ipod touch which I've downloaded mostly free apps and some songs (many purchased from Amazon when they had free downloads from pepsi points). I use my desktop at home and at work.

Each of my DD's has an ipod nano and they each have their own itunes account at home on "their" desktop (not the same one that I use).

They really prefer to keep their accounts separate because they are into different types of music and also like to use their own itunes gift cards and like to keep that separate.

This year, they are each getting a new ipod touch and we are also going to replace their computer, so we will need to get the songs and movies out of their itunes account on their current computer and get them moved onto the new computer and on their new ipods.

I consider myself somewhat computer savy, but for some reason, I just cannot get this sharing itunes accounts and multiple computers thing.

I guess I'm just wondering how everyone handles multiple itunes accounts on mutiple computers.

Thanks for any suggestions!
Becky

The easiest way to get all their stuff onto a new computer is to backup ITunes onto some DVD's/CD's. Then when you put ITunes on the new computer, you can restore from those disks and it keeps all the settings and everything they already had.
Then when you hook up the new Ipods it will recognize they are new and you will name them and just load them up the same way they did the other ones.

The latest version of Itunes has Home Sharing feature. It allows you to move songs between home computers. I think you need to have wi-fi though.

ditto that.... if you have wi-fi, you can just place your music files into a shared/public folder, so any pc on your network can access them... then just copy them to the other pcs from there....

OK, I guess I need to do some googling - we do have wi-fi, but as far as I know all we share is the internet access. We don't have any files set up as shared files. Seems like something I really need to look into.
