A few weeks ago, I came across a website where you could search for food items by allergen; in other words, it gave you options, and you could check gluten free, peanut free, treenut free, dairy free, and voila! It would show you all sorts of food items that fit all of those categories. You would think I would have bookmarked the site....but evidently not.

Does this site sound familiar to anyone? Or do you know of a site w/ the same type of search ability? DD3 is allergic to peanuts, and we must also keep her off tree-nuts and seeds, and DS2 is lactose intolerant and we just had him tested for celiac (results aren't in yet). DS8 has ADD, and we want to go gluten-free for that reason too. It already took me so long in the store to check every label for nuts & dairy, but now with the gluten thing, uggh! Shopping w/ 4 kids is hard enough!

:thanks: very much for the information.

Your job, now, is to find the site again and post a link here.:surfweb: :surfweb:

Actually, I was kind of hoping someone would post something to the effect of :"Oh, yeah, we order from a site like that all the time at www.----------------", because I can't find the silly site anymore! And my head is about to explode as it is. You know, DS2's Down syndrome is a cake walk compared to dealing with peanut allergy, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, and ADD diet restrictions.

We've been dealing w/ the nut allergy for a couple of years now, but all the other has just surfaced recently, and I'm opening up my pantry and realizing that my kids can eat about 5% of what I've got in there. And the baby (DS2 w/ Downs, celiac, & lactose intolerance) is not on board w/ the giving up the gluten. He balks at every meal, and it has been so stressful. I know he's thinking "Hey, where's my yummy wheat berry toast?? Where's my spaghetti?" But I'm tired of fighting with him over every meal (I'm like, Dude! Don't you know this is Basmati? It's like, the best rice there is--it's delicious! ), and ending up covered in whatever it is that he's decided he's not eating at this particular meal.

We're just about ready to start up homeschooling again w/ the oldest 3 kids, and I feel like the proverbial camel; "Oh, no you don't. Not one more straw. I'm serious. This is gonna be the one that breaks my back."

The website I can no longer find was really great, because you just plugged in all of your food issues, and it narrowed down your choices to the products that fit your requirements. If anybody knows of a site like this, please forward the address. I'll keep looking too, but I seriously think I've googled every combo I can think of!

Are you thinking of www.allergygrocer.com? I have 2 kids with food allergies and order a lot from them. You can customize the product search by checking allergen boxes. They sell some good gluten free cake and bread mixes.

hi ashley,
sorry i don't know the website (but am curious to find out what it is too!) but i wanted to share that we have a lot in common. my oldest ds 7 has down syndrome & is lactose intolerant, i have a ds 2 that was diagnosed with tree nut/peanut allergies earlier this year and i have a dd4 (no diagnoses, thank god!). i am totally with you that dealing with down syndrome is sometimes a walk in the park compared to the allergies (although i feel like after dealing with a diagnosis like down syndrome, it makes learning to adjust your life to handle food allergies a little bit more doable )!!!! how can you rationalize with a 2 year old that he can't eat certain things & we have to check everything to see if it is safe?????? i was suprised that when i switched from peanut butter to soy butter that my ds7 didn't fight it because he lives on pb&j sandwiches.

sorry to ramble, but i just wanted to say hi & that you are not alone!! i often feel like "today is the day that i am going to go over the edge", but i keep telling myself that it will get easier as they get older! right?!?!?!?

best wishes! pam

I was also going to say www.allergygrocer.com We LIVE on that site! DS had 37 food allergies (now down to about 20) so it's very hard to find foods for him. I LOVE their search!!
