Multiple Fastpasses??

CanadianGuy....now THAT is an answer with some credibility. If you vouch for the source, that's good enough for me.

However, just gotta say that unless some of the previous posters were privy to that info (and I doubt they were since they didn't reference it) then they were just shooting in the dark as much as I was. Only difference is that I openly admitted it.

Thanks CG.

Don't assume. I've read that post by CG many times, and I know it is credible indeed. But I don't need more of a "credible" source than my husband. I trust his word. I realize you may not trust it...or mine, though. And apparently, that's the case. lol

.

If the policy was that you had to return in that time frame it would say "You MUST return... or "this ticket expires" at such and such a time.
.

I agree.
it should say expire, if they want it to

but,,,, I can see outraged :headache: park goers, who have been turned away from a shut down ride over & over during the day & finally 4+ hours later its working & the CM,, says nope : see it says EXPIRED!!:rotfl2:

Darlak, I did reference CanadianGuy/Knox, twice and I believe I said he had notable other quotes in reference to this matter. I just could not find that one, but I was aware of it.

And as far as our other issue we were discussing: (DARLAK Quote) Let me ask a question though, even if you were to be offered conclusive evidence that it is in violation of policy, but as long as it continues to be allowed, would you not continue the same practices you're currently using? Why is it so important to think you aren't violating the original intent? No sarcasm intended; I'm just curious. (End Quote)

Because I do not, at this point, have any reason to believe I AM violating the original intent.

Well, as much as I have enjoyed our debate, I have to go take my kids to choir practice now. Hope to see you around the boards for future discussions.:goodvibes

And because I can't leave well enough alone.. from the original patent application..

As described above, in one or more embodiments of the system and method a customer is prevented from obtaining more than one entitlement or pass for accessing an attraction at a single time. In another arrangement, some customers may be permitted to obtain multiple passes. In one embodiment, the system may be arranged to permit customers to obtain multiple passes at some times and not at others. For example, if the wait time for accessing one or two attractions is particularly long (whether by the first or second queue 24,26) the system may be arranged to permit customers to obtain passes for different attractions so that the customer avoids the need to access one attraction before obtaining a pass for accessing another attraction.

The ability to hold multiple passes was foreseen in the original patent.. as well as a RIDICULOUS number of other scenarios .. literally everything you can imagine they have thought of..

And for those really get off on this stuff.. the FASTPASS patents I read both make reference to a mythical descriptor called "CLOSE_TIME" .. and what happens at close time?

No further passes are generated for the current day, current day passes are no longer valid and system abuse data is purged for that day.

Long story short, I think that the bar codes you are starting to see on FP's will be used to weed out the day-over-day abuse.. but I really doubt the intra-day 'use it anytime' philosophy will change. It works really well for the most part, sole exceptions being on the busiest of the busiest days..

And I don't think there's a FastPass system invented yet that will make a themepark at 98% of capacity, feel like it's at 23% of capacity. That's life.

:confused3

Not worried about it. When my hubby comes home and tells me that he was told to only accept FPs within the window, I'll believe it.

Edited: And holcomb-mania is right, all they care about is using them on the right day and not allowing early entry. And yes, my husband was told to check the date. He *has* turned people away for trying to use a FP from a different day.

just curious,
how do they have time to check the date? I have seen them take the passes so fast that they barely have time to read the time on the front!

on a couple rides ( rock n roll coaster comes to mind) that we SHOWED the pas to one person so they coudl see the time & later on up the queue another person just grabbed the pass without even looking at it.

I guess they could change the colors each year of the passes.

You rock, Knox!

I have also enjoyed our debate, er...discussion, PrincessTiffany and look forward to more in the future. Who knows, maybe we'll even be on the same side next time.

BTW.....War Eagle! I'm from Oak Grove, just outside of Birmingham.

Depends on the CM. They are trained to check the date and start time. That doesn't mean that all CMs actually do as they are trained. It appears that they all don't check the date because those buying the passes on ebay are able to use them sometimes.

Did you mean Rolllllllll Tiiiiiide!!? Okay, that's another "discussion" for another day!

OMG! I have to get off this board and leave my house now. The DIS is so addictive!!!!

I hope you will take this in the spirit it is offered. I don't know you or your husband, and as I've already said more than once, I never doubted what everyone said CM's were being told in training. I just questioned whether those CM's were being told an actual policy or merely told to ensure that guests have a "magical experience" while at WDW.

A vague reference mentioned by someone I don't know was not credible enough for me. Knox realized that just referencing something he had read somewhere before was not going to be enough to convince me either. He didn't seem to take issue with that or feel that it was some sort of personal attack on his credibility. I'm truly sorry if you did take it that way.

I was totally joking. Sorry I have a strange sense of humor. I will usually add a "lol" or a smiley so people know that I'm joking. You didn't offend me in the least. We can still be friends even if you are the enemy when it comes to FPs <---that's a joke too. :flower3:

Thanks for coming back to clear that up. :flower3:

Thanks for coming back to clear that up. :flower3:

Sure thing...sorry I caused the concern in the first place, though! This thread was fun and didn't turn into a flame fest for a change. Thanks for the civil disagreement and the laughs as well. :thumbsup2

Yikes! Finally a post from management!

Wow! What did it say? Exactly the same exact thing I've been saying for at least 2 days. Whew, I was worried for a little while. Thanks Knox, you rock!

If I use my FP late, I've actually let others ride sooner and the folks behind me will ride the ride at the exact same time if I would have used my FP in the window.

The use of late FP has a zero affect on wait times or on the length of the FP queue.

Disney doesn't care when I use my FP as long as it is not early and as long as I got it that day.

So in closing....

Wasssup, Fastpasses don't expire.

QUOTE]

isn't that only true if there is a continuous FP line? if there is a time where no one is in line, and you go later, then you just push others...

wait wait, everyone's all happy, I withdraw my question :rotfl:
