Ask on the dining board. There were confirmed instances of double bookings in the same name being canceled at one point in 2007. I'm not sure that has continued.

Again the restaurants people would be best informed to answer this.

I wish people would stop saying that this is Disney's policy but failing to provide written evidence from Disney of such a policy. Let's be careful with the language we are using as it's complicating matters. Does Disney often allow people to use FPs after the window of time given on the FP has elapsed? Absolutely. Is it an official policy that CMs must allow people to use FPs after the window of time given on the FP has elapsed? I have seen no evidence of that, just heresay.

Look, I would like to believe you! Really I would. I can see how it would be advantageous to do it your way. But in order for me to feel comfortable doing so, I would have to no for certain that this was officially acceptable by Disney. So, if someone would just show me somewhere that Disney commented on this practice and said it was fine, I will start hoarding.

You will never find written evidence. There's a post I frequently reference from the relative of a VP of Disney Parks who says Fastpasses can be used, most times, from the start of the return time to the close of the park .. same day as issued.

Now.. Disney includes the return time window with a start AND end time, so that should the business needs, crowds, lines whatever get to a certain point, they CAN enforce the policy.

As a practically matter, for 332 days out of 365 it is not generally enforced. The key exception being Soarin'. That's a very popular and slow moving attraction and as a result, they enforce the return times more frequently... but still not on anything near a consistent basis.

But how about this.. get a Fastpass and ask the CM attendant at the machines.. "Can I use this at 4pm?" even if your fastpass says 2:30 to 3:30. See what they say.

And then.. when you return to the first Fastpass attraction ask "My fastpass expired 30 minutes ago.. is it useless now?" And see what they say..

or stop at Guest Relations at any of the parks. The language you will likely hear is "We prefer you try to use the Fastpass within the time window indicated or as near to it as possible. We understand that you are on vacation and sometimes things come up so generally speaking if we can accept a late fastpass, we will. But it's not guaranteed."

I always view it as a gamble when I exceed the FP window.. but so far it's been a pretty safe bet the few times I've had to exercise that option.

I don't know any Official Policy, I do however know what is Standard Practice, regarding the use and acceptance of Late FP.

I don't know any policy regarding double booking of ADRs. I do know that folks are able to make multiple ADRs on a given day and cancel them later when their schedule is finalized. I don't like that practice, but there are some things in life that I'm just not gonna like.

I just don't get why some get their panties in a bunch over this. It is not like folks that use late FP are trying to circumvent the system. It is not like you are taking a ride away from anyone else or making someone wait longer to ride a ride. If anything you let everyone earlier in the day ride sooner.

If you want to talk about breaking the rules...... what about not using a FP? By not using a FP you are taking a FP away from someone else.

What about giving a FP away? It clearly states on the back that the FP is non-transferable.

For all of the folks that still think that using a Late FP is harmful in any way, shape, or form, you really have not thought about the many many many posts on this board explaining why it is not.

The only point you naysayers have is your interpretation of the verbage on the FP itself.

The points we have are our interpretation of the verbage on the FP AND the standard practice of the use and acceptance of late FP AND first hand knowlege of posters who actually asked CMs the practice AND actual CMs who stated the practice AND statements from CM that they were trained in the practice.

Not worried about it. When my hubby comes home and tells me that he was told to only accept FPs within the window, I'll believe it.

Edited: And holcomb-mania is right, all they care about is using them on the right day and not allowing early entry. And yes, my husband was told to check the date. He *has* turned people away for trying to use a FP from a different day.

Well, once again, let's disect the verbage. "Disney is cracking down on expiring times because people are selling fast passes on Ebay." How exactly is someone who uses their Fastpass 6 hours late going to sell it on Ebay? They have still used it, late yes, but have used it and will not therefore be able to sell it on Ebay. I have no doubt that they are "cracking down" on people using it the next day or later, as they should, because that policy would cut down on people selling Fastpasses on Ebay.

Of course! I have no one else to share my Disney-mania with other than my fellow DISers. In fact, he just called me with some juicy news of a fist fight that broke out between two guests. I'd report more, but he had to go to talk to security. lol Hope no one was hurt.

Well, can you show me somewhere that Disney commented on this practice and said it was NOT fine?? If the CMs at the ride are allowing it, then that speaks volumes doesn't it? I don't think you'll ever find Disney commenting on something to say it's ok, but by not doing something about it, they're condoning it. Parents do it all the time, lol. Since they already have a CM checking that you have a pass in the first place, they could most certainly very easily check to be certain that it's between a certain time. It wouldn't cost them extra CMs even. I personally think they don't care what time you come back. It still works the way it's supposed to, moving the crowds to different times to keep the waits down more than not having it.

Same thing about the big controversial using the refillable resort mugs at another resort....not only do CMs not say a word about it, Disney changed the design of the mug away from it being different for each resort so that you could at least see at a glance that someone was from elsewhere.....now it's identical at any resort you go to, so you would have to require a receipt or something. But, you won't find in writing from Disney that it's ok to do so, but all they've done is make it easier. And never enforced it before.

If you're not comfortable using your FP outside the window then don't.....vacation is not a time to stress about something so trivial. But maybe one time that you have what you might consider a legitimate "excuse" for not getting back in time, like the last ride you were on had an extra long line, or your ADR didn't seat you when you were scheduled and took forever to serve you, etc.......maybe take your FP to the CM and apologize and ask if it's possible to use it anyway. Then enjoy the ride!

I don't have a FP handy, but I seem to recall that it sounds more like an invite than a rule...doesn't it say something like "return between 1pm and 2pm"....not "valid only between 1pm and 2pm". And the date of course.....and I also recall that some of them specifically said "not for sale". My guess is that IF they are cracking down on anything, it's the ones from weeks/months ago.....because those are the ones that are being sold on ebay and craigslist. And that makes sense to say no about.

As long as there are rules, humans will find loop holes. Do it if you feel comfortable, if not, ride between the hours invited.
