What is the advantage/disadvantage of having different contracts at different resorts?

In other words, if you own 150 VWL and are doing an add-on of 50 points at Saratoga (with the same use year).....other than the 11 month window factor, what other advantages/disadvantages of this?

Obviously, the reason that I am asking is because this is what we are thinking of doing!

I personally wouldn't add on 50pts at a different resort. I really don't think you can do much with it. I mean I own 150 at BWV and 174 at HH, through banking and borrowing I work with 300 BWV one yr and 348 at HH the other. The only thing that I could do with 50 pts at a different resort is maybe use it every 3 yrs for a total of 150pts, unless you just want to use it for a couple nights here or there. The way I work my pts, I would look to get at least 100 pts, but that's just me and my opinion. It really depends on what you want to use them for.

I know that many have added on with small contracts at second (or more) resorts. For us, what worked better was owning two contracts of the same number of points each at two different places.

Just as carone0318 incidated, we bank one and borrow on the other and alternate using each contract at the 11 month window each year. Yes, it is nice to have the 11 month window at two different resorts. We then consider switching at the 7 month mark, but have only done so once so far (we love our homes!).

I would think that if the majority of the reservations are made within the 7 month period, then it wouldn't matter where your points are.

For us, the small add-ons at another resort didn't make as much sense. But for others, it can be a nice addition to the point portfolio and can be used every third year as described above, or even for short trips if you happen to live closer to WDW than we do.

I agree - 50 points isn't very much. I realized that after addding on 50 BCV points. I promptly added another 25, so every other year we have 150. Well that's how it's supposed to work out anyway!

I bought one larger contract at SSR, but after being on these boards for awhile. I should have bought a smaller contract at SSR and a small one at another resort (11 month window). I am very happy though. This keeps everything very simple for me.

just passed rofr for 230 at okw, with different use year from my first contract which is bcv, the flexibility of 2 different use years/2 resorts works for us, waiting rofr for bwv, with a 3rd uy, tracking and managing points a little harder, but a big advantage not mentioned by many is we will still be able to do our usual every 6 months trip with bcv and can bank and borrow other 2 to get grand villas alternate years and do big family trips, this will allow me to treat my brothers and their many children each to 3-4 trips to disney in style over the course of the next few years as the children age into adulthood
