Hello! We are planning our first trip back since 2019. I've got so much to relearn. We are planning for March-April 2024 for a party of 12 for 4 nights, 5 days.

Two grandparents who will probably only go to Magic Kingdom one day and hang around the resort and visit Disney Springs the other.

One family of 3, two adults and will be 15 year old daughter.

One family of 3, two adults and will be almost 3 year old son.

Our family of 4, two adults, will be 13 year old daughter and will be almost 3 year old son.

It will be both of the almost 3 year old's first trips and there to celebrate their birthdays.

Each family at least needs their own bedroom. We've also considered trying to get 4 Fort Wilderness cabins in the same loop. Any alternative suggestions? Appreciate both high end and moderately priced suggestions. Thanks!

I'd start with Marriott. This far out, Swophin can be the price of a value with a much better location and treatment of Disney deluxe. Cancelable reservations, and just better hotels IMO than Disney.

Another plan would be to rent 2 DVC 2BRs, but this will be expensive and renting points has downsides, like no refunds and a whooole lot of advance planning.

If everyone has the same budget, I would look at these options.

4 rooms in Gran Destino Tower at Coronado. Even if it's bus only transportation, it's really nice there.
4 rooms at either Port Orleans. The nice part is that because they are sister resorts, some can stay at POFQ and some can stay at Riverside and everyone can use the same pool if they want.
4 rooms at YC/BC/BW. Easy access to 2 parks, and if the 13 and 15 year olds want to run off by themselves to Epcot or DHS, it's easy to do.
4 rooms on the monorail loop, although both GF and Poly are having some sort of construction.
4 rooms at Wilderness lodge.

I don't think there's a bad place just some resorts will meet what you're looking for more than others.

Edited: I just looked and Easter is on march 31 2024. the weeks before and after easter are some of the most expensive times to go in the year. I'd keep that mind. The rates for 2024 will post whenever the packages for 2024 are made available (June-ish 2023)

I would warn with Ft. Wilderness Cabins there is no guarantee of the same loop, and it's also potentially limiting for the grandparents.

POFQ and Gran Destino tower there is guaranteed proximity because of the nature of those resort complexes.

Coronado also has some suites that sleep six (so two, with a bonus of two bathrooms per suite and a kitchenette - we stayed in one in Casitas once); same with Art of Animation (on Skyliner) and All Star Music (bus only) and both technically Values.

Wyndham Bonnet Creek has some larger suites (technically offsite, but just about onsite), as do a lot of other places, including Doubletree at Disney Springs (onsite) and Residence Inn just outside Disney Springs (offsite).

Copper Creek has nice cabins that I believe sleep 12. You could possibly rent points for that? I think there is construction, though. Old Key West also has some larger suites (bus to parks but boat to Disney Springs). Their studios are nice, too (kitchenette).

I guess you really have to decide, first, whether you want to be in separate lodgings, or together. Once you decide that, then you can narrow down where your group wants to stay. You may also want to decide how important a kitchen or kitchenette is to you. You could do Club Level, or maybe just the grandparents might enjoy Club Level, if they’re going to be hanging around the resort, so they’d have a space outside the room to hang out and food and drink options available most of the day. Lots to think about!

Best thing to do is go on the Disney site and start pricing out rooms for your dates, though I am not sure they are booking that far out. At least you can get an idea of what is out there and price points if you put in dates for this year (assuming 2024 is not bookable yet, I forget how many days out they will allow). Disney rates have increased quite a bit since 2019 and you are going at a very popular time. A travel agent would probably be your best bet with all the people you have going, they can help book and coordinate all your rooms and make dining reservations. And no charge to you!

I would book 4 rooms at the same resort so each little family had their own space to decompress...and their own bathroom. If it's in budget I would look at the monorail resorts for the ease of transport for the grandparents and families with the kids under 3. If that is not in budget I would next consider POFQ for the smaller footprint and boat to DS for the grandparents.

I would also warn about things like Copper Creek cabins and DVC Grand villas that most of the sleeping surfaces are not Real Beds.

If you start that way, research the actual bed setup.

If the grandparents are only going to MK and then hanging out at the resort, I would consider Grand Floridian. It will certainly not be the cheapest, but it is gorgeous and so convenient to MK. It's also a lovely resort to just hang out - they can also spend some time riding the monorail, perhaps renting a pontoon boat, going to the resort pool, etc. I would just look for your cheapest option at GF which will, most likely, be 4 garden view rooms.

If GF prices out too high, you could also consider 4 rooms at Wilderness Lodge - still convenient to MK and a lovely resort to explore.

If neither of those fit the bill, I would look in the EP area - our favorite is Yacht Club - it feels more serene yet has easy access to EP and DHS and has some great places to explore around the Boardwalk. We also love the Swan, which will most likely price out less than the WDW deluxes, but you do lose that Disney feel, IMHO.

In the moderate category, we love Coronado, Gran Destino Tower - it's a mod with a deluxe feel, however, if the grandparents want to explore DS, I would also consider POR or POFQ.

I would choose either a moderate or deluxe. If choosing Deluxe I'd choose one where you don't have to go outside to get to lobby, shops, restaurants, etc.

For your entire group my first suggestion would be 4 rooms at Yacht Club.

All rooms have balcony. Access to everything under one roof. Excellent pool. Boardwalk for the Grandparents who won't be doing parks every day. With 2 parks being so close, by boat, maybe they will decide to spend time at another park.

For a moderate, I'd choose CSR. Either the tower or the Preferred rooms. Both would have access to all amenities under cover. A variety of dining options. Plenty of public areas for the entire group to get together.

Both of these resorts have been very accommodating, to us, in our requests to get 3 or 4 rooms together.
