My family and extended family are going to US/IOA (after WDW) for the first time in Dec this year. All of us are adults, including our 82 year old mom.
I am well-versed in Disney and know what my mom would and wouldn't be able to do comfortably. She has back issues and will be in a ECV so rides like Dinosaur and Kilimanjaro Safaris are off limits--not to mention ToT and Aerosmiths RRC.
I purchased Kelly's book about Universal but am still unclear which rides might be a problem for mom due to her back. I would hate for her to not be able to do anything at US/IOA when she will be able to do quite a lot at WDW.

Does anyone have any ideas about which rides to AVOID for her?

In IOA Avoid:

Hulk
Dr Doom
Jurassic Park
Ripsaw Falls
Dragon Challenge......... hmmm I think there's more...

In USF Avoid:
The Mummy
RRR

I would recomend getting Kelly Monaghan's Universal Orlando 2011 book as it gives a good description of each of the attractions at Universal Studio's and Island of Adventures. Along with other good information.

I am sure your Mother will enjoy all the shows. You can check out the Universal Orlando website for a list of the attractions/rides and you can click on each for a description and a few pictures and video clips. The UO website also shows which rides are thrill rides or rollercoasters and those would be the ones that I would think your Mother needs to avoid. Youtube also has videos for the attractions so you can get a feel for what they are like.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I do have the book and its been great. I have checked websites and a couple of things are bit harder to tell from photos. Like I know she wouldn't have been able to do Star Tours at HS but I'm not sure if there are ride/shows like that one at US/IPO.

What about things like Jaws or ET or Terminator? I can't really tell whether these are too much or not.

These rides should be fine.
Terminator is a 3D show, Jaws a boat ride, and ET a dark ride.
