Basically just babbling here - because I'm so excited! :goodvibes

It's getting very, very close to the time I can make the move back up to the lake again - thanks to the weather :thumbsup2 - and I can barely think about anything else.. :yay::yay:

As of April 12th, my mail will no longer be forwarded here and will be going to my rural mail box at the lake.. To change it now to a later date (due to circumstances I'll get into below) would be a major hassle as it takes weeks for it to actually go through the main USPS system and begin to arrive where it's supposed to be..

So - Dson-in-law is scheduled for his CT surgery on March 17th.. His surgeon has told him "no lifting for at least 4 weeks" and full recovery won't be acheived until he reaches the 6-week mark (barring any problems).. Dson-in-law has it in his head that he's going to be able to move me at exactly the "4 week mark" - which I'm not comfortable with at all.. There's no point in having the surgery if he's going to turn around and do something that could require additional surgery.. (Love him for wanting to keep things on schedule for me, but I'm not going to let him do it..)

Right now the options I'm kicking around are:

#1: Head up there the end of March - or the first week of April (by myself) and just take the bare essentials that I can manage on my own.. Some food; water; some clothes; the bedding I brought home; my computer; one box of books; and my yarn (so I can continue on with my crocheting projects).. The rest of my stuff would be all packed and just waiting here for when Dson-in-law is fully recovered and can transport it up there.. I can turn on the water myself at the lake - just can't hook up the hot water heater.. (Of course this is assuming we don't have any late winter storms between now and then..)

#2: DGD's best friend's dad has offered to do the entire move for me - as well as hooking up the hot water heater (which otherwise would have to wait until Dson-in-law was able to do it) - the weekend of April 10th.. (I offered to pay him - he said no - but somehow I'll try to get him to take the money anyhow if I go with that option..;))

The weather has been so nice here lately, all I can think about is the lake and I can hardly wait to get back up there again.. :yay: I'm just a little torn over which option would work out the best - for everyone concerned.. I'm always mindful of the fact that the sooner I go back to the lake, the sooner DD and her DH will have total privacy again (as will I up in the mountains) - so that is factoring into my decision as well..

I'm just thrilled that we had a relatively mild winter (in terms of snow accumulations) and I can actually start planning my move again this early..

It won't be long now!!!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I'm not sure what I would do. Both sound good to me. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading your posts, especially your moves to and from the lake.

lol..seems like you just moved back from the lake to your daughter's house..and here you are all set to head back again..if it were me, I would go with option 2..that way you won't feel guilty if your son-in-law tries to do something too soon , and impedes a full recovery..if you have someone else offering to move you up and get you all settled in..GO FOR IT!..hope you don't have any late spring snowstorms and that you get yourself back to your little cabin in the woods..I know you love it there..you are always telling us so..lol! Good luck with the move!

I agree---it seems like yesterday you left the lakehouse.

Anyway, enjoy!!! I can't wait to be back at the beach but it won't be any sooner than June. Wishing it could be tomorrow though.

Have fun!!! :cheer2:

I agree with scana I enjoy reading your posts. I would be tempted with option 1 but sensible me(ha ha) would just go with option 2. Whats one more week and then everthing could be done all at once. I know it's hard to wait. I am the kind of person that can have a 2 week trip planned for disney in December but still take a spur of the moment trip in August. Dsis and I did this last year. The day before my bithday we decided to celebrate it in disney. We called and booked a room for 5 nights(dvc) and hopped in the car around 10pm and headed to disney(LOL). So I guess I have to change my mind and go with option 1............... Susan

You have a Lakehouse? ;)

Go with option #2. Easier all around. If you go up earlier you know your daughter will just worry and your son in law will feel bad and do things for you he shouldn't be doing.

I know how you're feeling, DH and I are anxious to get back up to our property in the woods as well and start staying there again. Another month or so and we will. :goodvibes I just wish we could stay there all summer, like you do at the lake. :)

I would go with #2 if I were you, and let your granddaughter's friend's Dad move you. That way you won't have to worry about your son-in-law trying to do too much too soon after his surgery.

I was going to write that SAME EXACT THING!! She JUST moved to her daughter's house, what last week?

I vote for option 2.

Very nice news!

If it were me I would take full advantage of your DGS's best friend's Dad's offer. No sense in roughing it if you don't have to and it would probably put your DD at ease knowing you have hot water and weren't going up to the lake alone without all your supplies.

If he won't accept money, I know I never would either because it seems so impersonal and businesslike. How about offering him a nicely cooked dinner, or a weekend visit sometime over the summer with his family? Maybe even some space on your property for them to camp? Just some ideas. It may well be he never would take you up on anything at all but the offers are a nice thank you anyway.

I hope the weather holds out for you :goodvibes

If we are voting - I vote for option 2 as well. I would hate to feel responsible if moving had an effect on DSIL's recovery.

Back to the lake? Oh my, where has the time gone?!? :confused3

I vote for staying with your family so you'll have TLC companionship year !:goodvibes

Oh wait - that wasn't an option was it :rotfl2:?! Besides, they'll visit every week-end. ;)

If ya' really need our input, I'll go option #2. Sounds too iffy depending on DSIL so soon after his surgery, perhaps not being 100% and taking the chance of injuring himself.

Good luck, whatever you decide, know you can't wait to make the trip to your safe haven!

I can relate to that. I was down at our lake place last weekend looking around to see what all I had to do to get ready for summer. After my DS(7) soccer game Saturday I am headed back down to start cleaning the deck and air out the place. Summertime is almost here and after this nasty winter I am ready for some lake time.

Hey, can I borrow your lake house?

(HAHAHAHAHA, see what I did there?) :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Yeah - she just said it was going to be empty for a few more weeks so how could she possibly object?;) We're not being rude, afterall we'll never know if we don't ask!

LOL - it does seem like I just moved back here to my DD's very recently, doesn't it? That's what happens - considering I tried so gosh darn hard to hang on until December 1st.. Only missed it by a day and a half - maybe I'll make it this year..:thumbsup2

It was a good move for me - getting involved in so many different projects once I arrived back here - because the days, weeks, and months have just flown by!! No long, dreary, winter days this year - looking longingly at the calendar - waiting and waiting until I could make the move back to the lake again! ;)

I've decided on option #2 - providing we don't have any "late" winter storms up that way.. I think that would be best - in terms of making sure that my Dson-in-law follows his doctors instructions to the letter..

The family is away this weekend - a "Jack and Jill" baby shower over to the coast - so I've started my packing.. I'm being much more methodical this year - really trying to eliminate things that I brought up there last year, but never used.. I'm focusing mainly on "projects".. Found I had a lot more quilting supplies than I originally thought, so that will be a fun activity while I'm up there - and of course my yarn and books will be going with me as well.. Scrapbooking is "out".. There's just not enough room up there for all of my supplies, so that will be a winter activity for down here at DD's..

I can hardly wait! A few weeks and I'll be back at the lake again!!!!! :lovestruc:yay::yay::yay:
