howdy all.. as everyone here is a resourceful disneylander, where is the best place in the resort to get mugs from.

coffee mugs, drink mugs all that. and what is there average price.

The Market House on Main Street. Hands down.

Buy a mug - get a free cup of coffee. Not sure whether or not that gets you the free refills for the rest of the day, though. At least you get one cup on the Mouse!:thumbsup2

Other places - World of Disney in DTD and Postcards from CA in DCA. The gift shop in the DLH also has the more obscure retro mugs series (last year's was lime green and the 50th Anniversary one was blue) - this year's is orange. WoD has them also - haven't seen them anywhere else.

Mugs range in price from under $10 to $18 tops.

dtd world disney had a grate selection 10.99 i think it was nice this year i get one last year dh did and i like it

well i have been set the task to get like 1 mug per member of the family.. and to my mum that means like 15..

this gives me an idea thanks

I was thinking you were talking about the tall plastic mugs with a lid? But I was thinking those were available anywhere in the park/Disney hotels that sold coffee, and ran about $8? We bought the plastic ones, and basically you pay the fee for the first cup, then you get free refills of drip coffee in it for the remainder of your stay.

We've bought them at the DLH coffee shop, and it's a deal if you're like my DH, who must have drip coffee every day. I don't really like the DLH's coffee, so I usually get a latte in DTD if I can.

I purchased a glass beer-type mug from the WOD store in Downtown Disney last yr. It has a wizard mickey on it. Anyway, I noticed recently that the blue paint on it is rubbing off, literally. If you touch the glass w/ the blue wizard hat, you will get blue paint on your hands. I'm not sure if I wasn't washing it correctly or what, but I just thought I'd warn you. We actually don't even use it often, so I don't know what the deal is. The bottom of the glass has blue on it too, which also comes off.:confused3

He means any Disney mug. Ceramic, commuter style, etc. My comment was on the bargain that you get at the Market House. No matter what kind of souvenier Disney mug you buy there, they will give you a disposable cup of coffee for free with your purchase. It's something a lot of people don't know they offer. There are no signs telling you about the deal. Kind of like the free coffee all day with your receipt deal they offer. It's only word of mouth.

Renderman7, Dude - All I can say is I hope you are driving or shipping those bad boys home!!! 15 coffee mugs is a lot of extra luggage weight!!!! If you ship, then they will wrap them extremely well. The Disney Parks shipping department is extrememly good at packaging.

I've found that the ceramic mugs with the design smoothly screened onto them are the best for long term design wear. The only ones in 15 years of buying that we had issues with in the dishwasher were the GCH ones we got - the green ones in the hotel gift shop 4 years ago. Maybe we just got a bad batch, as the screening came off.

PS - the new orange retro 50's logo mug rocks. I have the other two (if you couldn't tell by my PP) and I've been told by my husband that I have to surrender another existing mug, if I want the orange one.... the new series of 4 that has one with a DLR logo on it, is extremely nice, too. I like the DLR one the best.

I did not know that, thanks! I have almost purchased mugs there. :rotfl:

And they have 4 different types of coffee to choose from, too. They serve the Mickey's Coffee Company Coffee, a step up from Nescafe. We like to do a half decaf /half vanilla or half hazelnut - with plenty of room for creamer.

right off the bat...imporium or market house

thanks heaps everyone... i think shipping might be the best bet as i am flying.. but if the cost is against me i will just have to make sure they are packed nice and tight.

do they do tea at the place with the free coffee.. i dont drink it.. tastes foul to me.

Renderman, you are going in December, right? I used to be a mug collecting fanatic (that ended when I discovered watches back in the '90s), but I still get tempted by the oversized mugs they sell around DL. I like extra big mugs that can be also used for soup or chili or cereal, as well as coffee and other drinks. I think you may have been the one who posted a thread about souvenirs like mugs and magnets and where to get them a while back, and I posted some of my (bad cell phone) pictures of the nifty holiday stuff I got last year, including the super-adorable gingerbread/peppermint candy Mickey mug/bowl which is large enough for a very big coffee drink or a bowl chili or whatever. It is one of my favorite souvenirs ever! I love it - and it came with a wooden spoon and a recipe. Do you remember that I posted those pictures of the magnets and the cookie ornaments and all that? Well, if they sell that mug again this year, you should get at least one of them, but they were not cheap. I cannot recall the exact price, but it was more than $10 and under $20. So maybe you could get one of those for the most special person in your life and get some of the cheaper ones for everyone else. They sell extra large mugs in the Market House and in World of Disney in DTD but I only saw the special gingerbread/peppermint candy one at the China Closet on Main Street and the Gag Factory in ToonTown.

We have a Disney outlet here in Vegas and I have seen them as cheap as 5 bucks plus I use my Mousesavers discount and get 15% off! Love my outlet store. Most of the stuff is from Disneyland.

You may want to check out the Disneyana store on Main Street...sometimes they have coffee mugs there that you can't get anywhere else in the Park. Last time I went, I got a really cool looking one with a picture of some of the original art from the Tiki Room on it!
