Our mugs have always been good on later visits--take them and give them a try.

The signs on the mugs now advertise them as "length of stay" mugs. I guess they are trying to discourage use from trip to trip.

But, with that said, I used mine from last year and no questions were ever asked. I agree, take them and give them a try, it worked for me.
