Mugs at PoP?!?!

These mug discussions never fail to entertain me.

popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

Each person has to decide what they should or should not do. Period.

Thanks for your input everyone! How much are the mugs?

They are $12.49

Here is a photo that safetymom took and it shows the price and drinks offered :

Perhaps a better idea would be to have a stickie thing you could get when you check in that would go onto the mug. I have about 18-20 of the dang things...and I have 3 of the new, generic style. I only consider bringing those back in Sept because I just don't want any more of the exact same design!! I would be thrilled if I could bring my old ones back, and then buy a barcoded stickie that would allow me to refill the mugs. They could even put it on your room key. So much easier to use that way. I could reuse the mugs each trip and then buy, at a lower price, the barcode each time.

I don't mind paying...I just don't need any more of the YOMD style mugs!!

WOW...so I guess that since I hide the shampoo just to get new ones each day makes me a dis-honest person too :rotfl:

My Mom goes every year and she re-uses them. I think it's a tad bit silly that you have to buy a complete new one. I think it'd be nice if you could say pay like $2 or something. Especially if you only stay for a few days. Some people don't have room for more cups!

Not to be rude but then your mom is a thief. She is stealing and if you are OK with that then that is your problem. Hopefully if enough people do this thye will just get rid of the refillable mugs and it can be ruined for the rest of us!

Here's another way to think about it. Some people are saying they don't want to purchase the same mug design twice, they already have a ton of mugs, they don't have anywhere to store yet another mug so, for those reasons, they'll just use their old mug again. This issue has become so much about the mugs that people are losing sight of the reason for having the mug - the ability to get all the drinks you want over the course of your stay. Besides getting a mug to take home, you're paying $12.95 for all of the drinks you could possibly want for the length of your current trip. I don't understand why anyone would even think of bringing the mug back for another stay. It's no different than bringing your own cup to McDonald's and raiding the drink machine. I seriously don't get it?:confused3

And we can't use the argument that Disney is already charging us enough for everything. Yes, soda is relatively cheap. But if Disney chooses to charge $100 for a soda, that's they're choice. It's our choice whether or not to pay it. But we don't have the choice to make up our own rules because we don't agree with theirs.

I really don't think you should be calling my Mom a thief when plenty of other people do it too. I'm sorry that she doesn't want to pay almost $13 for a new mug. It was pretty rude because you don't know my Mom. I wouldn't call you rude if you said something like what I asked. I came here to ask a question not to have someone call my mother rude!

That was quite a rude thing to say....:sad2: Whether you agree with it or not is it really necessary to call a fellow DISer's mom a theif????

Well, I violated the rules and didn't even know it.:confused3 I purchased a mug at WL in April. During the stay, I went to AKL and AsMu to check out the resorts ... I carried my mug with me and refilled at both resorts.

I can see barcoding the mugs so they would be good for the duration of your visit, but I think it is silly to limit them to the resort from which you purchased the mug. We love to take walking tours of other resorts. Heck, I actually ruled out AsMu for our next stay b/c they didn't have the sugar free lemonade and I was forced to drink a diet sprite.:rotfl:

I'm very interested to know what all those who think it is a crime of epic proportion to re-use the mugs from previous visits would do if they actually witnessed someone doing it. Would you say something to the person doing it? Would you go up to a CM and say you just saw someone re-using a mug from a previous trip? Is it really any of your business if you see someone re-using a mug?

:sad2: No it's not and it's also not anyone's place to call someone Else's mother a thief.

I agree.

I would also like to add it is against the DIS rules to call others names.

BTW:

Many guests are unaware that refilling old mugs is against the rules.

Some CM's mistakenly tell guests that the mugs are good for a lifetime and they can bring the mugs back for refills.

Back in 2000 a CM also told me I could bring back the mug and refill it as long as came back to the same resort I bought it at.

The next time I returned I noticed the signs that said the mugs were only good during the stay in which they were purchased.

My apologies to the OP for those who were unkind.

I do not think it is appropriate to ask that question on this thread.

"Thief" is defined as "a person who steals" - if somebody is taking drinks without paying for them then that would seem to fit the definition. So I don't think it was a personal attack or "name-calling".
