Muddy Buddy Training!

Depends, did you push anyone over?

I hit the gym today and did some hardcore chest and arms.
No...I was a nice guy and yielded only to women.
Good job on the workout Don.

Did you push people in mud?

Oh, about my DC run... I guess I should say I'm in Arlington, VA not downtown DC. We ran on a rail trail - the Custis Trail and then met up with the Washington and Old Dominion Trail. Very nice run.

Paul, good luck on your mission. Travel safely. Hurry home.

ETA: I'm back. Another 5 miles down in a very relaxed, comfortable 10 min/mile pace.
Sounds like a lot of fun, and WTG on the 5 miles.

ADP, did you go to the Marsh maze?

I actually didn't walk last night, but I did get in a good afternoon walk.

I did my regular workout this morning, and I have changed my diet. I feel good, and I am ready to get muddy! :lmao:

I am trying to imagine Aaron running through the market with reckless abandon... :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Nope...Wally World! It was crowded and dangerous too.

I'm hopeful to get out for another run tonight. The weather is calling for rain, but we'll see.

Hey if you run in the rain, that will prepare you for the muddy schooling that you will get from me! :lmao:

If you come across a mud puddle, just jump in and wallow! :rotfl2:

Hi Guys,
I'm back from running over a mile. I must admit I feel better than I've ever felt after a run! Woot! :cool1:

Depending on how I feel next time I may extend my run to 1.5 miles. :yay:

Good job Aaron! I ate too much today, but I played football for an hour and did a decent core workout.

Something everyday is my goal, but I try not to beat myself up if I miss a day.

I had a good workout today.

I am going to try to get a good walk in tonight, and hopefully run by Friday. Woo Hoo!

I may have already mentioned this, but some logistics I've learned about the race. There are 5 segments to the race and the race is over 6 miles long. This means each segment will be around 1.25 miles long if my math is correct.

There will be 5 obstacles in the race. I'm not sure if the mud pit is considered one of the obstacles or not. It also seems like the terrain of the race will be through trails, grass, uphill and downhill. I'm not sure how much uphill and downhill terrain there will be. I'm also not sure if there will be any running on pavement.

I thought I also read that we should have water on our bikes so we can stay hydrated.

Some other things I read...(btw, the website has a good FAQ section), you must wear a helmet at all times. I'm going to Wal-Mart Friday night if anyone wants to go with me to get a helmet and water bottle.

I may also be purchasing a bike at the same time if that seems the best route.

We should also try to put something on our bikes to pick it out of the crowd easier. I'm thinking we can get someone to decorate it for us ;) Some lime green mickeys or something.

I thought the rules said that we wouldn't be allowed to participate without a water bottle or hydration pack?

Don't they sell those long little flag poles? We could glue LGMHs to the flags? Something like this?

Which Wal-Mart?

I can join you. I need to get a bike as well. Are you taking the bike with you on the plane? I think renting one down there or buying one down there is a good idea.

It is one bike per team, correct? There are several Wal-Marts to choose from. The one on Sand Lake Road was the nice one when I lived there. I've been looking at the rentals, and I am not sure how that would work for us.

I'm not taking a bike with me, I'm going to buy one in Orlando most likely. I will then donate it to GKTW after the race.

Think Paul would ride that bike if I got it!! LOL

Seems like its not much more to get one from WalMart and donate it than the cost of renting one. Doesn't need to be real nice, its only 5 miles of biking.

The place mentioned earlier in the thread is 27 miles away from the Downtown Disney. And there hours are 9am-5pm, so we would most likely need to rent it for two days. That's $60. Plus the time and gas to get to the rental place. I think visiting Wal-Mart might be an okay idea. If we swing by and look before we leave, we might get an idea of what we're looking for.

I think that bike might be perfect to take away from his thug image.:goodvibes

I think that Paul would like that bike. It seems to fit him well.

Todd, will you help me "attack" the other members of our group with mud?

If you guys in Indy have bikes you want to take, Susan and I are driving my SUV and arriving Friday 5/8. I could get a rack and put them on the back... The only concern I would have would be storage/port security while on the cruise.

I like Don's idea of donating a bike to GKTW if they'd have use for it.:thumbsup2
