Hello fellow MSP'ers.

We are looking to book a trip in October to Orlando.

Right now the cheapest I can find for a nonstop flight is $288. While that isn't as cheap that we got in the past, I don't think it is too bad :confused3

Of course I am a little nervous on waiting because I do think the air fares are going to go up instead of down.

The $288 is on a NWA flight. With all their recent problems I am a little nervous flying with them. What is the general feeling that NWA will be flying still in October?
I did check Sun Country and their flight to Orlando is $310 a person. It has been a long time since I flew Sun Country (before 9/11) do their prices usually come down or is $310 about as good as it is going to get?

Are there any other airlines that fly out of MSP to Orlando Non-stop? We really want a non-stop flight. We will consider a connection flight, if the price is right (like around $225 or less)

Check Airtran. They offer 1 non-stop each day and they are currently priced at about $220 per ticket, all included. The price is well below what the other non-stop carriers are offering (SC and NWA).

I am flying them for the first time in October as well (MEA Break). The don't offer advanced seat assignment on the cheapest fares, but you can check in online and choose seats then. There should be no problems sitting together.

Have fun!

I did check into Airtran, but I wasn't comfortable with no seat assignment until check in.
I really want to have our seat assigns before check in. I know that the airline can change them around, but I still just feel better having them picked out beforehand.

I am OK with my husband and I sitting seperate, but I want to make sure there is at least 2 seats togehter for one of us and our son.

I haven't heard enough about Airtran to know how easy it is to check in without pre seat assignment. Let us know how it goes when you fly.

jacksonsmom...I wouldn't sweat the seat assignments. My understanding is that as long as you book your seats altogether, they seat you all together. So if you are party of 3 and you are on a flight where they have a 3-3 seating, you will be most likely sitting together in a single row of 3 seats.

Hello Neighbors-
I booked NWA in February for September at $247 (non-stop)....I have flown NWA the last 3 years & this year is the most expensive. I think SunCountry was about the same at the time, but NWA had better flight times for us. DH is afraid to fly, so non-stop is our only option if we want to go to Disney (or anywhere for that matter)!! So while NWA is having problems, I was happy with the price/times/etc and just hope all goes well come September!!

I just read in yesterday's paper that airfares are expected to rise in the upcoming months. Granted I have been reading the same thing for the last two months, so I jumped on the $247 when I saw it.

Happy Travels!

Carol recommended Sun Country through Hobbitt Travel. They gave better flight times than Airtran IMO. Hobbitt Travel seems to have cheaper SC fares than their website.

Just booked first week of August on NWA for $267 total, $247 and $227 where available (all non stop) but the times got were perfect at $267. Suncountry has been good to us though-it was at $288 but left a little too early.

Never too early! :teeth:

I love that 6:15 to 7:00 am departure!

Have a great time.
