I'm working on our ADRs and we wanted to try Yak and Yeti, Tokyo Dining, or some other similar places (my girls love Chinese and Japanese food). The only problem is that I cannot eat anything with MSG in it. Do the menus at the restaurants state whether they use MSG in their food, or can I call in advance to find out?

Thanks!

My mom has a severe problem with MSG so I emailed the person mentioned on here who deals with food allergies and needs at WDW before our family went back in Sept/Oct of 2008. She emailed that WDW's policy on MSG is that they do not ADD MSG to any of their foods; however, the restaurants CAN use ready made products (I assume she means things like soups or sauces etc) that already contain MSG so if there is concern you should mention it to your server who will have the chef come out and talk to you about what might contain MSG. Having said that (and we didn't eat asian while we were there) my mom had no issues on the trip.

take this as cautious advice regarding the counter service Chinese Lotus Blossom Cafe. The eggrolls had msg! I broke out within minutes and got the headache. This was 2 years ago so I avoid that CS.

As for Yak & Yeti - I've eaten a few meals ther and had no problem whatsoever. And you can always request the chef there to come speak to you about any allergies.

I can't have it either; and after 50+ trips to the World, I've never encountered a problem--and I've eaten everywhere! It's true, WDW does not use MSG in their food preparations. As the previous poster stated, you would need to ask about any sauces, condiments, etc that they don't prepare themselves. When you order food, stick with fresh ingredients, and before you reach for the salad dressing, or hot sauce, etc. ask if it's "homemade" or is it from a supplier. then ask to read the label--or don't use it. when making ADR's, mention this and it will be noted on your Ressie. Then when you arrive at a restaurant, the chef will come out and ask you specific questions. WDW is awesome when it comes to food allergies, etc. No worries--enjoy your trip.

Thanks so much!! You have really eased my mind. :flower3: The last thing on earth I need while I'm at WDW is a killer migraine!
