While I realize that Easter is a religious holiday not celebrated by all (matter of fact my DH is working as I type); I really think MS should've been closed today.:confused3

Anybody else feel the same?

If not for the workers' sake, what about the members? (me:rolleyes: ) who had to wake up bright and early this am to make the call jik there was a room available (no, on waitlist:laughing: ). Luckily, I was able to attend mass on Saturday evening or I would've had to wait until later in the day to call...still, it sure would've been nice to sleep in this am.;)

So are we feeling sorry for you because church was interfering with the scheduling of your trip to the Food & Wine Festival? ;) :):rotfl:

ha, what!! you're not feeling my pain? no F&W this trip:laughing: ; just MNSSHP;)

i was glad i off-handedly asked yesterday morning if they were open today...honestly, didn't think they would be...is this new practice?popcorn::

Sunday hours for MS are a new practice, not just Easter Sunday.

they must have been the only dag on people open today!

I know they began operating on the weekends, just surprised that major holidays (both weekends & not) would be open...although since the parks are also; guess it's not too much of a stretch?:confused3

Not everyone celebrates Easter, so I'm sure that some cm's don't mind working. I'm sure they also get paid overtime, so I'm sure there's some cm's who are happy to make the extra money.

The parks, restaurants, and resorts are all open too. Are you concerned about them having to work today as well?:confused3

I think they should be open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Or at the very least create an online reservation system.

no, i figure those who work in the parks were advised that they would be working weekends & holidays - when they took the job, just as my DH knew when he took his job.

how are you sure the employees do get OTpopcorn:: ? Know my DH isn't getting holiday pay today (just his normal shift differential & Sunday premium) and he works in a very strong union environment.

BTW, a real-time, on-line ressie system would be a dream.

as expressed earlier, it was more of an inconvenience to make time to call on a holiday

ITA! If I have the urge to make a reservation at 2 a.m., I want someone there for me! Ok, maybe not that crazy, but I have woken up with that urge and wished I could call. I am actually glad MS is open more.

I used to work at a video store that was opened everyday. People would come in and get upset that we were working on holidays but than if we wouldn't be there they couldn't get any movies:rotfl2: I did get paid more on the holidays so that made up for it a little.

As a former CM I think having to work on Christmas was WAY more of a bummer than working on easter. Yes some CM's will get holiday pay but not all of them. It is funny, guests always say "sorry you have to work today" yet they are THERE so of course someone has to work! lol

Sorry to be a grinch, but I'm Jewish and there's always the possibility that making day-by-day reservations would require me to call in on Rosh Hashonah or Yom Kippur. And for many Jewish people (or Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, etc.) who are paid by the hour, days like Christmas cost us a full day's pay so someone else can celebrate their holiday. I certainly feel that for any major holiday of your own religion you should have the option of taking the day off. But I can't get too upset if you experienced on Easter what we experience every year on our High Holy Days.

Yes... I agree with you! I think in those areas where it can be closed on Sunday (like some of the office type jobs... not parks, hotels, restaurants)... especially Easter Sunday... they should be. Folks need a day of rest... time for church... time for family. Sometimes progess... convenience... and the push to make more $$$... comes at a great expense. It may make us plan a little differently... a little more inconvenient at times... but with the thoughts that folks are getting some well needed personal time... I'm all for it!

I disagree about MS being closed. They're providing a service, and getting paid to work. Just like many many many other businesses. As a previous poster stated, Disneyworld is open, should they close too? You don't even know that the people working at MS even celebrate Easter...its a religious holiday, that they may not even care about.

I still remember having to work on July 4, 1976, but the store being closed on the next day, July 5, 1976.

I don't agree with this. Everyone's beliefs are different. While I agree we should all have family time or time off of work it doesn't have to be on a Sunday. Any day can be family day. If you are saying these should be Sunday due to church then it's forcing your beliefs on everyone else. I'm a christian and have no problems with businesses and places being open on holidays or sundays. If I feel that strong against it I just make I never work at a place that require these hours. JMO... It's not my place to tell other people they need to go to church.

I find that the post on the DVC boards are much more aggressive than any of the other boards.

WHERE IS THE LOVE?

IT WAS A SIMPLE COMMENT!!! geesh LOUISE:confused3
