MS told me no more Epcot View Requests At BCV

So I called today to change my March request to Epcot view and was told that they can no longer put Epcot View on BCV requests. I didn't have time to call back to ask another CM to see what answer I got, but I was told that they got an email update last week telling them no more requests because - and I paraphrase - Epcot will be making changes that will make it impossible for BCV guests to see Illuminations from the rooms. That was the gist of it. So I asked her - what changes, is it because of Soarin' and she said she didn't know she just knew that they can no longer put that request type on the BCV ressie.

So - if anyone can call tomorrow to ask I would love to hear what others might be told!

Well, I hope this is not true. That is my favorite view. How enjoyable to be on the balcony and enjoy the fireworks. I will definately be curious to someone's reply on this. :sad2:

I "heard" that there will be a new version of illuminations for the 50th celebration.

I thought the Soarin' building was already up? Unless they are going to put more trees in between BCV and Epcot to block the view of the backs of the Epcot buildings.

I don't see how that would even be possible.

Yes the Soarin building is up. And even if they did change Illuminations, it certainly wouldn't block out the view of Epcot altogether.

Here's a photo from our balcony last month. You can see the Soarin building on the far right.

Let us know what you find out tomorrow, kathleena.

And...Illuminations isn't the ONLY reason to have an Epcot view!!!

So sad!!

MS told me the same thing when I spoke with them yesterday

I can't remember for the life of me where I read/heard this, & I've never stayed at the BCV, so I don't know if this could even effect the BCV view, but I "heard" that a new ride was going to be built in Canada.

I recall that it was supposed to be a bear themed water ride & it was going to be big, like a mountain........

Like I said, I don't know if this would block an illuminations view because I've never stayed at the BCV & don't know where Canada lies in relation to the BCV, but I thought I'd toss it out there..... pirate:

Probably from this article at Jim Hill Media (or a source that quoted this article):

You're right--if they did go ahead with such a project, it would likely block out 80% of the fireworks in the World Showcase and give BCV residents a view of another offstage show building.

But, warts and all, it would still be a view of Epcot. You could still see Spaceship Earth and other recognizable structures. Unless they plan to erect an 80' high fence separating the villas from the road, I just don't see how they could suddenly decide that such a view does not exist.

The only thing that makes some sense, IMO, is DVC has decided to limit the types of requests they will allow.

Well this must be new as I had no problem asking for Epcot view earlier this month, Jan 11 to be exact. I don't really care that much about seeing Illuminations. I'm much more interested in the view of Spaceship Earth, which will still be available unless they are planning to build a wall 200 ft high.

In any case, they need something to describe being on that side of the resort. In another thread I saw today, "woods view" was not being accepted either!

This could be because much of the "woods view" at BCV was destroyed by the hurricanes last year.

My thought is...... Maybe too many people complain at check in that they didn't get their Epcot view. (These are only requests) If they limit the requests like another poster said, then there would be less complaints to cast members at check in. I think it should be left to smoking/ns , h/c room or not. If it effects points like at BWV, then you could add standard/preferred.

Well, I am certainly not happy about this! I don't understand it! Requests are not gauranteed anyway and if they tell you that your view may be blocked or you may not be able to see fireworks or whatever and you still choose to ask for the Epcot view, isn't that your choice. Maybe I will ask for a view of the road?

I am sorry, but if they are going to limit requests they should limit them everywhere!

I also have to believe this is more about guest complaints about NOT getting an Epcot view, rather than something blocking the view. I have to guess that the complaints to the BC front desk have been very high for those who don't get the covetted Epcot view (not that great IMO though). Maybe they are going to go the structure at BWV, whereas now you can guarantee the BW View now with the restructure there. We know that took place to due BWV owners complaining they had made their ressies 11 months in advance of hoping to get their BW View request granted and not getting it, so it is entirely possible that either BCV is going to go to this type of structure to allow BCV owners get the first shot at the Epcot views, or not guarantee them at all, since there are so few anyway. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

This was my thought exactly!

Of course after my last BCV stay, my only request would be clean room, and a bathroom with NO HAIR already in it!!! :rotfl:

Really though, if there are no guarantees, you ought to be able to request whatever you want. It really isn't fair, especially to those that own at BCV. It really hacks me off that whatever BCV photos you saw from the beginning of the resort had Epcot painted in the background of the balcony. Of course they want to sell this to you, but don't bother asking for that particular room view! It really makes no sense.

I like to be anywhere on that side of the building. Love the view of SE, love the views of Illuminations, love the swamp area, love the Magic Ring view....I just don't want to face the pool if possible (not possible when we need a 2BR accessible though).

So what can we request? One time I asked for "non pool view," and of course got pool view!

Our favorite view is the Quiet pool. We can sit out on the balcony and watch our older DD swim while the baby sleeps. We always requested Epcot view and this last rip received Quiet pool view. Now we will never request anyting else. It is also quite close to the parking lot so no waiting for the valet with your car. We were able to unpack and get to our room very quickly.

IMHO

I also posted a thread about this yesterday when I called to add the epcot view
request to my March ressies.
I was told by the CM that was no longer an option for them to enter and when I asked why she said because of some construction that would be at Epcot.

You would think if the construction involved building something new we would have heard about an upcoming addition, you know how Disney likes to advertise all the new and exciting upcoming events.

Could this possibly involve some sort of refurbishment?

So I called again today and asked.

This CM told me about the same thing - the email came about a week ago - and no more Epcot view requests "due to a new attraction" planned for Epcot.

I can't imagine anything being so large that it would hide all the fireworks or the rest of Epcot, but my mind did go to the article mentioned in the previous post.

I asked her what I can put on the request to ask for that side of the building and she said they will probably come up with a new request description and to call back a couple of weeks before my trip.

I really don't think there is anything "behind" this except to maybe pre-plan for some ugly looking construction coming up.

Seems silly to me, it's just a side of a building - I suppose I could ask for "road view".
