MS made a mistake

Okay, while I know that none of you can actually give me anything factual, some insights would be helpful. I made reservations for Thanksgiving time at BWV, a studio, preferred view. We were arriving on Friday after Thanksgiving and leaving the following Tuesday. We were waitlisted for Thanksgiving Day and got it. When we found out we had Thanksgiving Day, I asked for an additl. day at the end. MS repeated what I wanted, I said yep that's it. Well, I never thought to double check my confirmation when I got it. I was just going over it trying to squeeze as much as I can out of my meagre points, and I noticed that they had me checking out on Tuesday the 30th instead of Wed. the 1st. This wouldn't be a huge problem but when I got off the phone with MS, I got on the phone with Song and changed my flights to Wed!!!! Now it will cost me about $200 to change to the previous day. So, my question (finally, I know) is....what are my chances of being able to add that last day, Dec 1, onto my reservation. Please, anybody. Give a girl a chance to sleep for the next two nights. I'm so worried that when I call Monday morning it will not be possible.

I think you have an excellent chance. You are not yet inside of the 7 month window and are not looking for either a standard view or a Boardwalk view. Even if they don't have it now, waitlist for it. I have waitlisted for New Year's eve and have gotten it at around 5 months out, so hang in there. And even if you don't get it (which I think you will) don't change the flight, just pay cash at one of the other resorts, like the Swan/Dolphin for one night.

What time does your flight leave on Wednesday? If it is an early morning flight, you might benefit from staying in an airport hotel the night before (only if your waitlist doesn't come through, of course). Several people have reported $35-$40/night for 3-star hotels using priceline. We plan on doing this, but for the first night, as our flight gets into Orlando really late.

Always confirm your point balances after you make a transaction before you hang up. If MS did something wrong, your balance will not match theirs. Good Luck!

Maybe you could call MS and see if the same room type is available for cash that last night and link it to the days you already have on points. Still waitlist for the "points day" and drop the cash night if you get it.

dont get worked up about it, it's not worth it.

I totally agree with calypso. try your best to work it out with member services. in the worst case you can stay the last night at hotel near the airport - which will probably give you free breakfast and a lift to your airline. are you renting a car? you could turn it in a day early and save the money and extra time it would take to return it on the day of your departure.

even better, you can leave your luggage at the resort all day Tuesday, go about your daily business and then switch hotels at the end of the day. guaranteed you can find many deals for less than the $200 to change flights.

this is why DVC needs to make the ability to do online reservations a reality. I can only imagine what the people at member services think when the same people call them daily for months once they are waitlisted "just checking" to see if something became available. can you imagine the water-cooler conversations?

Thanks everyone. We have a late afternoon flight. I won't obsess over it. I'm sure something will work out. If not, then I guess I get to try out yet another WDW resort for one night. Can't be believe I just didn't notice it. Not going to worry about calling all the time. If I can't get it tomorrow, then I'll just book a room at maybe the Swan or Dolphin. My dh is a govt employee so we could get that rate.

Why not try for a different DVC resort first? If available take it. (Don't waitlist). Then if your waitlist for BWV comes through, just cancel the other DVC resort and use those points to make your BWV ressie.

(Just be careful not to cancel the other DVC ressie if it's less than 31 days out)

Just got off the phone with MS. That was indeed interesting. Anthony told me that according to his computer, I was checking out on Dec. 1!!! But my confirmation said Nov 30. But he is going to send me a new correct conf. Phew. Also am waitlisted for BC in August. We are presently staying at BWV but thought dd would love SAB. So, we'll see what happens. Thanks for the good thoughts.
