MS can't link my ressies?

So here's the deal I have 12 consecutive nights booked at the BWV in a standard view studio. Same 3 people are on the ressie for all 12 nights. The 1st 2 nights (july13-15th) were booked at 7 months using AKV points. The last 10 nights (July 15-25th) were booked at 11 months using BWV points. When I booked the 1st 2 nights at 7 months the girl I spoke with said she would link them for me some wouldn't have to switch rooms. Ok so far so good. A few days ago I called to add a room request and ask in the ressies were still linked she said yes. So now to today where I called MS cause something told me to double check this and the man I spoke to said they are not linked and they can't be linked since they are under the same membership number (all of our points at AKV and BWV have the same use year and membership number) -this is the part I don't understand. I understand they can not be combined under one reservation since they are using different resorts points. He said he added a note that it is a continuing reservation and to mention it at check in and we'll just prolly have to switch room keys-which I assumed we would have to do anyway. My question is does this make sense to anyone else or am I just misundertanding how linked ressies work? Also would you recommend I do online check in for the first part of the trip or just wait till I get to the resort?? I really dont want to have to switch rooms. Thanks.

This does not sound right to me unless something has radically changed. You should be able to have the reservations linked and not even have to get a new key. I would call again and ask to speak to a supervisor if necessary.

It's possible one reservation is a lockoff and one is a dedicated. The 11 month reservation is probably a dedicated, they book those first. When dedicated are gone, they start splitting lockoffs, so your 7 month might be a lockoff.

Thanks for replying. I didn't think I was going to crazy. I think I'm going to call back tomorrow ans see if I get a different response.

Since it's at BWV that can't be the problem as all units are lockoffs.

I've read more than once that MS can't link anymore although I find that a little difficult to believe. Perhaps it's just a CM or two who don't know how to do it?

Not true. There are dedicated and lock off studios at BWV. There are dedicated and lock off 1 bedrooms also. There are no dedicated 2 bedrooms.

I believed the question in this thread and what I responded to was concerning 2BR's of which there are only lockoffs at BWV. But yes, there are dedicated 1BR's and studios however that won't affect the OP.

I would add the deluxe dining plan for the first part of your stay and at check in have them make sure that you don't have to move.

Because I'm an impatient person I decided to call back and I spoke to a wonderful lady who could not understand for the life of her why they couldn't be linked or even combined. So she informed me that I really didn't want them linked since linking is really for continuing ressies that were made with different membership numbers (which was not my case) and I wanted them, combined so I don't have to switch rooms. I'm like whatever you say at this point cause everything I read on these boards about linking ressies made it seem that it would be fine. So after being on hold and biting my nails that I was going to lose part of my stay she had her supervisor combine them into one reservation number. And after making sure my points were correct, I'm a happy camper.:cool1: thank you for all the responses and Good luck to anyone who wants to link their continuing reservations LOL!

Congrats, OP, on getting this resolved!! :cool1:

What It sounds like you have is a combination of some MS reps not understanding what they are supposed to do and a new multi-million dollar computer system that was apparently created by computer scientists with lots of technical ability but not an ounce of common sense.

It sounds like the first error that was made was when you added nights to your original reservation. That should not have been treated as a new reservation with a new reservation number but instead as simply a modification of the prior reservation by adding additional nights without changing the reservation number. It matters not that the points used to add nights at 7 months were from a different resort. As long as they are in the same use year and thus same membership number, the change you made at 7 months out should have done just as a modification of the original reservation and not as a separate reservation that needed to be linked. Thus, you were correctly told by one MS that linking applies when you are using two different use years and two reservation numbers for your trip. That should have signaled to the same person that what had been done in your account was incorrect. If they had simply extended the prior reservation instead making two separate ones and trying to link, you would have had none of the issues you have now.

Once you had two different reservation numbers, you flipped over into what is now the reservation glitch of the new computer system. The new system won't link and combine two separate reservation numbers into one like the old system dd. They assert they are trying to fix the system but apparently the outsourced computer scientists who created the problem in the first place are the same ones trying to fix it and thus there has been no success thus far and probably little hope for any.

Rest assured, however, that you will not to be required to change rooms. What you are likely to be required to do is change room keys on the day of the change in the reservation numbers. I had the issue with new system unable to link two reservations made with different use years just recently and the result was the need to change room keys nut not rooms. At check in make sure they have both reservations and know that you do not have to either check-in again or switch rooms.

The OPs recent post says that MS combined the days into one reservation number (which, as you stated, is what should have happened originally) and so she should not have any issues nor should she need new keys.

I had an interesting experience several weeks ago. DH and I discussed extending our F&W trip by one day so I checked online, saw the room we needed was available and grabbed it. Since we cannot modify reservations online I had to create a new reservation for that one night.

The next day I called MS to have my two reservations linked. The MS CM put me on hold. I was monitoring my account online and was unpleasantly surprised to see my one-night reservation get cancelled! :scared1: Then she came back on the phone and said she had cancelled the new reservation and added the night to the original reservation. I thought it was strange that she didn't just link them but didn't think to ask why (probably because I was still recovering from my shock at seeing my reservation for a Standard View room during F&W get cancelled!)

I just got back from HHI yesterday :( ANyway, I had made 3 days at my 11 month window and 3 days at my 7 month window. In addition, I had a cash night.

All were linked however; for the first time ever, we needed to do the new key thing for all 3 segments. I asked about it numerous times (I do this EVERY year and never had to do this), they said it was the new computer and there was no way around it??? It was a pain to be honest....

Oh my - that would have been scary to watch happen!! :scared1: So it seems as if they probably aren't even able to link across memberships any more either? If so our stays are going to get more complicated. :sad2:

Congrats, OP, on getting this resolved!! :cool1:

Ah yes. My confusion came when DebbieB referenced one being booked in a dedicated and one in a lockoff. Since those are not booking categories I thought she was talking about 2BR's. I don't believe actual rooms get assigned until within a week or so of check in so I don't think that would cause a complication for studios or 1BR's.

Even though you don't see it online, they are booking categories internally. I discussed this with member services one time when I requested a dedicated 1 bedroom at 11 months at BWV. They said I was already assigned a dedicated. They have to know how many lockoffs they have available and how many have been split up.

They just did this with reservations I made online for the same room type but at different times--because of availability.

I called and all 3 nights are now under the same reservation number...much better, IMO, then having linked reservations.

I wonder if they are now doing this because of the online booking process. When you call and add nights via MS, they are automatically put under the same reservations as what you have--however, when you do it online, there is no way to combine so it might be something they are doing to alleviate all those different reservations.

Glad it worked out for you!!!

I hope there is no trouble combining 4 to 5 single night reservations that I made for consecutive nights online. I did it this way since I have some holding points and would like to be able to cancel a single night online and rebook using those holding points (and then later bank the points I had used) --if any of those days are still available 60 days out.
I figured it would be easier to do it this way first, and then have MS link reservations. But from what I have read, I should actually ask them to combine the reservations after I secure what I can with the holding points, correct?

I think the ones online can be combined as they did that for me--I qI have other ones that were filled via wait list and those ones could not but they said they would put a note that those are continuous and we won't have to move.

I thought I had read that they couldn't do that anymore, so I was surprised when MS linked my two reservations (2 contracts, same DVC, same room type). But now, when I go into "my reservations" on the WDW website, the room reservations don't show up right! Is this because of the linking?

I know the WDW site doesn't really matter, but I like to see everything there and keep tabs on my number of days until I'm there up to date...anyone have any suggestions?
