So I called MS today to add the DDP to our upcoming vacation. Not the first time I've done this since they now make you pay upfront and not the first time I've added DDP to a vacation where we had switched resorts at 7 months. So I was very surprised that the CM said the computer wouldn't let her add the DDP. She said something about it being a "modified" reservation. Then she said the words DVC members dread the most: "We have to cancel and re-book IF IT'S AVAILABLE"!!! My stomach dropped as she put me on hold so the "back office" could take care of it. After about 5 minutes of being on hold (and listening to some horrible elevator Christmas music. Where are the Disney tunes?) she came back to say it was all set.

Since when does the reservation need to be cancelled and rebooked like that to add the DDP? Back in August of this year, I added the DDP to our vacation that month where we were staying at the BLT. That was also a modified reservation (switched at 7 months) and it didn't need to be cancelled and rebooked. Is this a new change because I don't like it!

I called atthe begining of November to add DDP to my post Thanksgiving stay. We had a spilt stay BWV and SSR which where modified a few times (had an extra day added to BWV after first wiatlist went through). I had no issue add DDP to either of these reservations. I would have asked to speak to a supervisor before I would have left them cancel my reservation. Glad to hear it worked out for you, but I hoep this was an error in process from a person not fully trained. I have had many cases where a CM has told me somoething I knew was not correct and have asked for clarification.

In all likely hood, it was simply something with you reservation and the way the computer set it up and not something that is a policy. Had no trouble adding the DDP to my son's reservation last week.

When you booked this reservation, did you segment it? Or, have it fill with a wait list? Some of the reservations that were booked when they were doing the one travel plan # (for split stays) had be re-booked so the plan would work right.

If you had any room requests with your original reservation they were also canceled.

Something funky must have happened when I switched resorts at 7 months maybe? It was a standard reservation, no waitlist or segmenting. At least it was taken care of by the "back office". Hopefully that meant supervisor! ;) The last thing I need is this kind of stress 23 days out from check-in! But since this is probably the last time we use the DDP, I don't think I have to worry about it anymore. I am sooooo happy members will be able to get the TIW card w/o the AP. :cool1: I'd much rather order an appetizer and grab a Dole Whip or churro for dessert later anyway! :thumbsup2

That's scary! I have to add the DDP sometime after the new year. I hate the thought of canceling and rebooking. I hate the stupid DDP but figure it's easiest with such a big group going.

Question...can you use more than one credit card to add DDP? My mother in law and brother in law are staying in our two bedroom. Can I put their portion of the cost on her card???

I have had the same thoughts. We are planning a Dec. 2012 trip with a group of 10 (4 families). I figure the DDP will be the easiest way to go, too. And I have also wondered about the credit card issue, as well.

We had our reservation canceled and re-booked a couple of weeks ago when we were checking in at VWL. That's the only way that they could get our room keys to print. :scared1:

That is messed up! My husband is in IT and I will gladly send him down to fix whatever seems to be WDW's problem! The kids and I will of course have to go too...I hear the weather is quite nice this time of year. ;)

Back in August we had key issues. They didn't have to rebook our trip, but with 9 in our party, a total of 45 cards were printed within the first couple of days!!! :sad2:

Well Wendy it's really rather easy. When you call to put the dinning plan on your reservation have either the credit cards or the people who will be using the plan with you. Call DVC MS's and tell them you need to add the dining plan and to split it up between the parties who will be using the plan. They will do it, talking the card number from the different parties.

We stayed last Nov at 3 different resorts, over 12 days, and their were 4 different couples/parties and 2 different plans(deluxe and regular) involved. Whew!!:rotfl2: I thought it would would get all messed up, but the person who took the information/card numbers performed perfectly and without a hitch!!

I had my CC on file at check-in for all extras, tips/adult beverages, and extra food, were charged to that card. Then the night before we left the resort and moved to the new one we went to the check out desk and had them split the bill according to KTTW cards and who charged what. Again MS did this perfectly.

We love the DP because we don't have to worry about paying on site or carrying around CC's. Just KTTW or passes and TIW card, so have fun and I hope it all works out perfectly for you all!!:thumbsup2

Thanks Mopee...

Well my MIL lives in MI and I'm in PA. Would they need to speak with her directly or could I just give her CC info...or maybe a gift card number for her portion?

I believe they just need the CC info and you can probably provide it. That said only MS knows for sure, call them.

MS only needs the CC number, expiration date, and name as it appears on the card.

We just added the DDP onto a rental, and that was all the information that MS needs, they also let you know the total and run it for approval while you are on the phone.

Oh snap!

I called to add the dining plan to my ressie yesterday. Split stay, BCV, VWL. Guess what?? My NYE ressie at VWL was gone. Yup, gone!

Needless to say I was upset. After 3 phone calls they put us in a studio back at BCV after telling us there are no studios at WL open. What?! We're not happy to have to move for one night.

Could this be the same thing? Darn DDP. Arg.
