I had a waitlist for a 1BR at BCV for 2 nights in October to replace the studio I originally booked. Came back from vacation today to a message on my answer-phone from July 3rd saying my waitlist came through but they didn't know if it was to replace the original and to call them before July 6th.

Checked on-line and I still have the studio, don't have a 1BR and my waitlist disappeared!

To say I am annoyed is an understatement- can't believe they didn't get the room for me (I had plenty of points)

I really don't know why they didn't even e-mail me or call my cellphone but just left 1 message on my home number with a 2 day deadline over a holiday. What's the point of them having all that contact information if they wont use it?

I don't understand why they had to cancel my waitlist and couldn't have booked me the 1BR- apparently it was because I would have had 2 rooms under 1 name at the same time - I am SURE I ticked the box to replace the studio and even if I didn't they could see I added my mom to the 1 BR and with just a tiny bit of common sense anyone could work out that I wanted the 1 BR.

So I am now fast approaching my banking deadline and back on the waitlist:sad:

So, be warned - don't leave the house when you have a waitlist and just to be safe, make your waitlist for different names!

Oh no....replacing the exisitng reservation seems like a no brainer..why wouldn't they just do it? Otherwise..what's the point of a waitlist??? That stinks..I hope you can still get it.

Did you call MS to see what happened and why it happened that way? That is horrible. My last wait list they just canceled the other room. They screwed up

When you establish a waitlist you have the option to either have it occur automatically if it comes through by having your already made reservation for the same period cancelled and the new one made, or, instead, not have the change made without your further approval, for which the process is to call you and give you about two days to call back and if you don't the waitlist is cancelled. It sounds like you mistakenly chose the call option rather than the automatic change when you requested it.

Really? I hadn't noticed the option to receive the call when I set up a couple of waitlists online. I did see the option to select a reservation to replace if that is what you wanted though. I thought I read it thru pretty well too. :confused3

Well, I never knew that and I can't see anything on the member's site that says anything about a call option, or indeed a 2 day time limit - could you direct me to this?:confused3.

As far as I can see, there are 2 options - either:
'No, don't replace an existing booking' or
'Yes, replace an existing booking'

It may be that I accidently chose the first option, but I just don't see anywhere that says anything about them requiring to speak to me within a set time or that the waitlist would be cancelled.

I would have assumed that if I had the points, and didn't want to replace an existing booking then the waitlist would be confirmed. Surely, if someone has an active waitlist, then it goes without saying that they actually want it filled.

I am not sure that language is on the website, but I have heard that explanation before from MS if it involved borrowed points.

When you choose the Yes option on the website, you have to enter the specific reservation. I wonder if its possible that you put in something wrong there and thus the reason they needed to call you and verify your intent.

Also, did you have enough points to book it without borrowing if they didn't cancel the initial room? If not, and you chose the No option by mistake, that could be another reason they couldn't just fill it, especially if you didn't authorize borrowing.

I know when I have set up a waitlist via the website and I want it to replace something, I specifically choose NO for the borrowing, just to be on the safe side that two rooms don't end up booked.

I'm really sorry that this happened to you and hope that your new place on a wait list comes through....if it gives you any hope, I went on a wait list for BWV 1 bedroom within the past month for a long weekend in October and it already has filled---never imagined it would so there is always hope!!!

Is it possible that you changed your original reservation, the one that was supposed to be cancelled? they recently called me because the reservation that was to be replaced was for AKV, but i had already changed that to a BWV when it became available. I didn't change my waitlist options for fear of losing my place in line. When my BLT waitlist came through they called to see if i wanted to replace the BWV, otherwise they would have left the BWV reservation in place. Long story short i had a BLT LV come through for Nov 16-19, a coup if you ask me.
