Mrs Highlander's Fabulous 40th Trip
Cast: Me:- Steve 40 something,paymaster general
DW:-Jacquie 40 soon will be something,
DD:-Stephanie 16 typical teenager,drama queen, princess (etc,etc)
DS:-Danny 14 (enough said)
Saturday 13th Oct Discovery Cove/Cirque du Soleil/ Illuminations Cruise
Today was an early start the car from Q****silver was due to pick us up at 7:30am, punctual as ever the driver was waiting for us, on the drive to DC we saw a few hot air balloon's flying over the highway very low, we thought it was just the pilots having some fun, but when we met Steve(Kimber) at BMG on the Wednesday night turns out he was in one of those balloons and they where in difficulty and I'm sure Steve said they landed on highway, anyway back to my day
. We where at DC for 8 checked in and while DW and kids got their passes I also checked in for the package I had booked as a surprise for DW, the swim time was pre-allocated for 9:55 because of the package, once we had our family pic taken we headed to Laguna grill for breakie it was the usual fare of muffins, pastries, cereals, yoghurt's, tea, coffee, juice etc, once refuelled the family staked out their sunbeds little realizing that my surprise negated the need but it kept them amused for awhile, it was an extremely hot day and humidity wise it was really bad, time soon passed and the family trooped off for their swim, I got a great spot for taking pics (which was a waste of time as you all know), they got two dolphins to interact with Tyler and Astrid everyone really enjoyed their dolphin time and DW was surprised with her dolphin gift,
After the swim the rest of the group where led away, while we where taken to get our belongings, DW and kids where confused as to what was happening as we where led away which was funny, we where shown to our Cabana now I really wish I had the pics as words don't do this justice we had a huge private area with 5 luxury sun loungers, a large hammock, table and 4 chairs under cover, the area was lovely and well shaded which was great in the heat, there was a large box of swiss choccies, champagne chilling, plus a bottle of sparkling apple juice for kids, our guide then took me aside to say that about 2:30 I was to get DW to the grill as they had arranged a birthday cake for her, this was great news as the cake was extra and not part of the package, for the next few hours we just chilled out reading and listening to music, we only left the area to get drinks and shop in the gift shop, for lunch DS had chicken tenders and fries plus chocolate cake, DW had chicken and fries plus carrot cake, DD had veggie burger, plus lemon gateaux , I had chicken with sweet potato mash plus strawberries and key lime pie, the food was delicious as always, we then went to order our package of pics with the package I had booked we got 1 pic free plus the dvd of the swim, I ordered the basic package plus the photo cd ( luckily), so for $133 I got photo cd, 3 pics, and 2 key chains, by now it was nearly 2:30 so took DW back to grill where they had a table reserved for us, there quite a few tables reserved and when everyone was seated with drinks, they started bring out the birthday cakes and the band played happy birthday and everyone sang along, DW was really pleased with her cake although only her and DS managed a slice the rest was boxed up for us to take away with us at end of day,
we where getting picked up at 4pm so we spent our last hour just chillin at the cabana, just as we where leaving the last of DW's surprise's was delivered this was a beautiful crystal photo frame that DC had put a nice pic in as well
Our driver was waiting for us as we left DC and we where back at WL for 4:25, we where greeted by the towel animal posted above, it was showers and quick changes all round as we had the 6pm show of Cirque du Soleil to get to, as we left the lodge it was just after 5 and a bus for DTD just pulled up excellent we thought, unfortunately for us it went to Poly, then GF then DTD we arrived at Cirque du Soleil with minutes to spare, not happy bunny's with Disney transport at all, the show was excellent as usual we had great seats just behind the sound booth dead center.
